The Scrum Master is responsible for facilitating and supporting the agile development process ensuring that the team follows Scrum practices and values. This role requires a strong understanding of agile methodologies, excellent communication skills, and the ability to foster a collaborative team environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Facilitation and Support:
- Facilitate daily stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
- Support the development team in achieving their goals by removing impediments and fostering a productive work environment.
- Ensure that Scrum practices and principles are followed consistently.
Team Collaboration and Coaching:
- Coach the development team and stakeholders on agile practices and Scrum framework.
- Encourage and support a self-organizing and cross-functional team.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the team.
Stakeholder Communication:
- Act as a liaison between the development team and product owners, ensuring clear communication of project goals, requirements, and progress.
- Provide regular updates to stakeholders on sprint progress, deliverables, and any impediments.
- Ensure that the product backlog is well-groomed and prioritized.
Performance Tracking and Reporting:
- Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as sprint velocity, burn-down charts, and team performance metrics.
- Use data to identify areas for improvement and drive process enhancements.
- Ensure transparency and visibility of the team's work and progress.
Process Improvement:
- Continuously evaluate and improve agile processes to enhance team performance and project outcomes.
- Encourage innovation and experimentation within the team to improve efficiency and quality.
- Lead efforts to implement best practices and agile methodologies.
Training and Mentorship:
- Provide training and mentorship to team members and stakeholders on agile and Scrum practices.
- Promote a culture of learning and development within the organization.
- Support the onboarding of new team members and ensure they understand agile practices.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience as a Scrum Master or in a similar role.
- Active Top Secret security clearance and ability to successfully complete requirements and background investigation for SCI access.
- Experience with project management tools such as Jira.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Solid technical background with hands-on experience in software development.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Salary Range: $100,000 - $250,000 depending on experience
