King & Spalding, a leading global law firm named by American Lawyer as the Best Law Firm of 2023, seeks a Senior Manager of Lawyer Talent Development - Training to join an innovative team that leads the firm’s lawyer recruiting, professional development, and diversity & inclusion initiatives globally. This is a new position at the firm that is focused on lawyer training, and it will drive a culture of continuous learning and excellence in collaboration with the larger Lawyer Talent Development Team, practice group talent leaders, and business professionals across the firm. This role will focus on the design, implementation, and enhancement of a wide variety of training programs that enhance the lawyers’ skills and abilities, and support lawyer advising and career development programs and resources, while seeking to foster a culture of inclusion and growth. The Senior Manager will spearhead the firm’s efforts to maintain cutting-edge expertise and to support its lawyers at all levels in steadily broadening and deepening their skills to better serve clients and develop their careers.
Key Responsibilities:

Collaborate with the Directors of Lawyer Talent Development and practice group talent leadership to assess needs, create programs, and implement lawyer skills training.

Define ways to evaluate training effectiveness and communicate program plans, goals, and outcomes.

Assist in overseeing integration and career development programs; facilitate pairings; recommend and implement program enhancements, discussion topics, and related training.

Collaborate with other departments at the firm on training and development initiatives; for example, the Marketing & Business Development team on business development training; the Associate Recruiting team on new associate training, summer training, and lateral integration; and the Diversity & Inclusion teams on various initiatives.

Contribute to other training and development initiatives and programs as requested or required.

Identify program facilitators, assist internal and external trainers in the development of curricula and materials, and work with practice group talent leadership to ensure program material is current, relevant, and impactful.

Support the planning of firm events, academies, retreats, and conferences to ensure that all events align with firm goals relating to professional development.

Draft and develop content for the firm’s intranet, website, and promotional materials as they relate to attorney professional development and training.

Oversee course catalogs and resources related to each practice group.
Qualifications:
-
A Juris Doctor degree with at least 3 years of experience in a professional development role in a law firm or other professional services environment is strongly preferred.
- Strong project management skills and a background practicing law at a large law firm for at least 3 years is also preferred.
- Demonstrated success establishing, developing, and managing robust training programs in a national or international, multi-office environment.

This position is hybrid with potential to work remotely 1-2 days a week, with flexibility as needed for greater office presence due to work needs. Some travel could be necessary (e.g., a few times a year).
