Colorado Behavior and Learning Group is hiring Full Time Direct Support Professionals. The Direct Support Professional is responsible for the crisis management, supervision, and safety, while also serving as a positive role model, for the residents. The Direct Support Professional implements resident treatment plans and works via modeling and teaching effective values, attitudes, and behaviors within residents. This role reports to the BCBA Program Manager. The Direct Support Professional will provide direct care to individuals with special needs for treatment of severe problem behavior. Clients have a variety of diagnoses including Autism, ODD, RAD, FAS, ADHD, etc. Common types of behavioral problems include aggression, destructive behavior, self injurious behavior, as well other disruptive behaviors.
The pay range for this role is $25 - $27 an hour based on education and experience. We offer:

POSITION IS LOCATED IN CBLG RESIDENTIAL HOME IN THE COLORADO SPRINGS AREA.
SCHEDULING AVAILABILITY: Hours are evenings, overnights, and weekends. Eight, ten and twelve hour shifts available.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to lift and carry child and adolescent clients and provide physical restraint when needed according to protocol.
- CBLG works with individuals ages 2-26 with high magnitude, high frequency maladaptive behavior that can include physical aggression, property destruction, and self-injury. Potential candidates need to be open to working with individuals that will exhibit this behavior on a regular basis.

REQUIREMENTS
- A Bachelor's Degree, or;
- An Associate's Degree and at least three months experience working with children
- Ability to maintain composure in an unpredictable, fast paced, high stress environment
- Must be able to accept feedback
- Must possess excellent verbal and written communications skills
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Follow written behavior and crisis plans
- Follow safety procedures to include using approved physical management procedures (including client restraint, client transport, and protection from aggressive behavior)
- Facilitate resident medical and other outside appointments, including but not limited to setting appointments, communicating appointments to appropriate staff, and transporting residents.
- Administer medications as appropriate.
- Review medication records daily for errors and/or omissions, report any discrepancies to Program Manager, and document in an Incident Report.
- Maintain and oversee medication records, including but not limited to communicating with the pharmacy to obtain new prescriptions and refills, and all necessary record keeping for same.
- Administer first aid to resident in response to minor medical problems as appropriate.
- Notify Resident Staff Supervisor and/or Program Director of any significant resident medical complaint.
- Keep residents on established awake/asleep and activity schedules.
- Guide residents in personal hygiene techniques and the proper care of their rooms and other living spaces.
- Assist residents in meal preparation steps.
- Guide and instruct residents in proper housekeeping and laundry procedures; supervise completion of daily chores.
- Use good interpersonal communication skills to gain resident cooperation and resolve resident conflicts.
- Exercise fair, firm and consistent use of behavioral system.
- Exercise appropriate intervention in accordance with the least restrictive alternative to protect resident from harming self or others.
- Review progress notes and staff log documentation daily for compliance with company standards, report any discrepancies to the Program Manager and document on the compliance review calendar.
- Record accurate and complete information in the resident chart.
