Job Title: Library Manager
About us: The mission of the Keizer Community Library is to be a dynamic organization that enhances the lives of patrons by connecting them to the world’s wisdom, knowledge and culture through open access to information and creative expression in many formats. The Library is a small, two-room volunteer library offering for free more than 15,000 items for checkout. The Library provides free Wi-Fi throughout, and six internet-connected computers for use by Library patrons and visitors. The Library offers a variety of children’s programs (story times, crafts, summer and winter reading programs, for example), along with educational programs for all ages, including classes and presentations by authors and other professionals. Over the next biennium, it is our goal to increase our outreach to the bilingual community, provide additional resources for sight- impaired readers, and increase access to technology for those who are in need of computers and printers to complete homework, job applications, employment searches, and other needs.
What you will do: The successful candidate will manage and recruit volunteers to meet the needs of the library including staffing the service desk, providing special programs and other needs. The candidate will also work collaboratively with board members to manage the library collection and support special programs offered by the library to the community. The candidate will communicate regularly with volunteers, board members and members of the public in person, by phone, e-mail and through social media. The candidate will ensure that the library is a welcoming space for diverse members of the community.
The successful candidate will work up to 24 hours per week with at least 20 of those hours being in person at the library and primarily when the library is open. The Library is currently open:
- Monday – 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm
- Tuesday – 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm
- Wednesday – 11:00 am to 5:00 pm
- Thursday – 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm
- Friday – 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm
- Saturday – 11:00 am to 3:00 pm
- Sunday – closed
What you need to qualify:
- Experience successfully using initiative and judgment in completing tasks and responsibilities.
- Experience successfully working independently in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Proficient at creating and posting content on Facebook, Instagram or other social media platforms.
- Knowledge of Word and Excel.
- Experience working collaboratively to solve problems.
- Experience successfully working with diverse groups of people.
- Experience using email, social media and other communications tools to communicate efficiently and effectively.
- A high school diploma or GED certificate.
- Able to pass a criminal records check, should a job offer be extended.
- Any combination of relevant work experience, volunteering, education, and transferable skills will be considered as qualifying.
