Job Title: Assistant General Manager
Reports To: Administrator, General Manager and Owners
Objective:
The objective of this position is to achieve or surpass Hyper Kidz’s profit model by meeting or exceeding sales and expense targets, while maintaining a high level of guest service, employee productivity, operational effectiveness, and promotional activity. The Assistant Manager will assist and support all of the responsibilities of the General Manager. There will be a lot of responsibility and this job requires great leadership skills. The Assistant Manager will need to keep a level head, be able to multitask, and have excellent people skills.
Job Responsibilities:
- Supervise several staff in addition to handling general complaints, last-minute schedule changes, equipment mess-ups, and inventory problems. Assistant managers are leaders and should represent Hyper Kidz and themselves well by acting as a role model to the people reporting to them.
- Able to handle and manage many tasks at once. Staff and customers will assume that you have everything worked out for them
- Able to stay focused during busy times and delegate tasks to employees to keep business running smoothly
- Recruiting and interviewing quality people to staff Hyper Kidz, as well as making sure these new employees transition as smoothly as possibly into their jobs. Must be a good teacher who tries to help employees who are having difficulty picking up new skills.
- People skills and customer service are a must in this job. In addition to interacting with employees every day, the Assistant Manager will assist customers when they have questions, concerns or complaints. Must be able to put on a happy face and address any issues in a professional manner.
- This is not a position where one can sit back, forget about the people around them, and do their own thing. The job requires attention to employees by motivating them to succeed and improve. Even if business is slow, keep staff in high spirits and be as helpful as possible to guests.
Other Responsibilities:
- Ensure all guests are greeted enthusiastically and all Hyper Kidz associates interact with our guests in a positive and professional manner
- Keep professional records in the event of guest service deficiencies, complaints, incidents, or accidents
- Ensure staff levels within the store reflect the requirements of the business
- Participate in the training of all Hyper Kidz associates to effectively perform all job responsibilities in Guest Services, Operations, Equipment, Child Supervision, First Aid, and Emergency Procedures
- Participate in the measurement of job performance of all associates and to communicate positive and negative feedback on an immediate basis
- Ensure staff performance is measured and all positive and negative feedback is communicated on an immediate and regular basis
- Recognize and reinforce superior performance of associates
- Recognize poor performance of associates and provide training
- Communicate with and work side-by-side with General Manager
- Assume responsibilities of General Manager when General Manager is off-site
- Execute all marketing and promotional plans effectively and professionally
- Assist with social media updates and promotions
- Assist with the planning, development, and execution of promotional activities that is appropriate for the consistent marketing of the store
- Assist in establishing a strong identity for Hyper Kidz with the community and industry in which it operates
- Execute all day-to-day operating procedures as detailed in the Hyper Kidz Operations Manual
- Monitor and control the operation and recommend changes in policies as required
- Document all operational activities in accordance with report writing procedures, as requested by the General Manager
- Protect all merchandise and food inventory, and conduct the re-order process for both components effectively
- Ensure the cleanliness of the facility is in accordance with the Hyper Kidz’s Guest Service policy at all times
- Ensure that facility deficiencies are repaired promptly and do not expose Hyper Kidz guests or staff to any unnecessary risks.
- Ensure that the facility and play equipment is in safe operating condition at all times.
- Monitor the facility’s conformity to County fire and safety regulations, and to notify the General Manager of any potential infractions
- Monitor the number of guests in the facility, and to notify the manager of any infractions of County fire and safety regulations
- Review sales results on a daily basis and implement corrective action if required
- Review financial performance against corporate financial projections on a monthly basis and to take corrective action if required
- Follow all accounting activities in accordance with company procedures
- Document all financial reports as required by the General Manager
- Must be able to work nights (until 9pm or 10pm) and weekends
Any other appropriate job tasks or duties as required by the General Manager.
Required Work Education, Experience, and Skills:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- At least 1-2 years’ experience in a customer service or related position
- Great leadership skills, detail-oriented, good communicator, organized, good work ethic, high standards for self and staff
