We seek a pro-active, well-organized, highly skilled and overachieving administrative leader who will gain hands-on experience in all operations of an exciting educational non-profit serving talented, impoverished youth.
This formerly volunteer organization is comprised of passionate team-oriented leaders who serve sacrificially and do not rely on this as their primary income. You will receive a stipend, but far more, the satisfaction of participating in the higher purpose of major world change, the enjoyment of wonderful new friends, and lavish appreciation.
About Us:
In 24 years, Canyon Scholars has become a premiere “pipeline of compassion” to impoverished youth trapped in a Copper Canyon region of NW Mexico dominated by criminal activity. More than 770 kids have received scholarships and educational freedom, returning to their communities as nurses, doctors, teachers, and lawyers to reclaim land, create regional stability and live healthier lives.
Remote/Hours:
This work is remote and seasonal, fluctuating from 5-20 hours a week. In order to find the right fit, we are open to splitting projects between 1-3 people in order to find team members with a range of admin. skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Management:
Assist with special projects as assigned, such as fundraising campaigns, volunteer recruitment, social-media campaigns, sponsor satisfaction surveys, student story database updates, and community outreach.
Administrative Support:
Provide general administrative support, answer phones, proof-reading and editing, correspondence dictation, and email management. Assist with scheduling service club talks and meetings, preparing agendas, and taking minutes. Assist with travel arrangements and expense reports.
Database Management:
Update and maintain donor and volunteer databases. Assist with data entry and reporting; create simple spreadsheets. Generate mailing lists and other reports as needed.
Communications, Simple Design, and Marketing:
Assist with creating, simple graphic design, and distribution of newsletters, brochures, and other marketing materials. Update website content and social media channels. Assist with event promotion and outreach.
Qualifications:
· 5-7 Yrs. Business world experience with the organizational skills and the ability to complete deliverables by assigned deadlines
· Excellent communication, writing, editing, and interpersonal skills. Ability to maturely handle relational stresses or misunderstandings, with the desire and skills to become a reliable team player.
· Strong interest in non-profit work and administration and a passion for one or more of the following: education, mentoring, Latino/ indigenous youth, poverty reduction, Mexican culture, and/or social justice.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Share, and experience with database management software (e.g., Salesforce, Raiser's Edge) is a plus.
· Sales skills, or interest in fundraising, a plus.
· Ability to speak or translate Spanish a huge plus!
· Cross-cultural experience helpful.
· Simple graphic design skills a plus.

Pay and Benefits:
This position is remote with weekly Zoom instructions and clear deliverables. You will receive a stipend at the end of each month, and have a 1099, self-employment status. But you will also receive the following benefits:
