The Floor Technician is responsible for the overall floor maintenance of hard surfaces and carpet (stripping, waxing, buffing, shampooing, extraction, & bonneting) areas that include offices, classrooms, lobbies, entrances, stairwells, and other public areas.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Follows all safety requirements and procedures at all times
2. Performs preventative maintenance check on all equipment prior to use at beginning and end of the shift
3. Handles floor care, including routine mopping (dry and damp), buffing and burnishing on hard surface
4. Provides floor maintenance; including but not limited to, vacuuming, shampooing, bonneting and extracting carpets, stairwells, and upholstery
5. Provides other cleaning services; such as, dusting, routine restroom, office, and classroom cleaning
6. Performs other duties as assigned Must have a valid driver’s license with good and clean driving record.
Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of the materials, methods, implements and devices used in cleaning building area. Possess strong leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills. Possess considerable knowledge of the operation, use and care of vacuum cleaners, scrubbing machines, polishing machines and general house-keeping equipment.
Ability: Ability to communicate and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to work as a team player. Ability to work under pressure and time constraints (due to schedule and last minute job requests). Ability to work a flexible schedule including evening and weekend assignments. Ability to work well in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with clients and staff . Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. Regularly lift and/or move objects 10-50lbs; occasionally lift and/or move objects that weigh more than 100 lbs. Frequently, required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust and focus.
