With limited supervision, the Technician performs any repairof equipment or vehicles in a safe and professional manner, in the least amountof time necessary, as assigned by management.
Education/Formal Training
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Related maintenance experience a plus
- Trade school training preferred
- ASE, or other certification preferred
Years and Related-type Experience
1. Minimum 18 years old
2. Must own tools applicable to position
3. Active drivers license
4. Three to five years of experience repairing all types of equipment, smallengines, gasoline, and diesel engines.
Duties
1. Maintain a clean and safe work area, adhere to all safety procedures
2. Maintain positive customer relations through professional interactions withcustomers
3. Follow standard operating procedures
4. Clean equipment
5. Attend formal training
6. Prepare new equipment for rent or sale
7. Assist with deliveries
8. Communicate with lead technician, counter person and/or service manager forequipment
maintenance requirements and repair parts
9. Provide assistance to all other levels of technicians as needed in regard to
troubleshooting repairs
10. Check out, familiarize and demonstrate a wide array of complex equipmentfor customers
11. Maintain paperwork documentation of work performed (work orders) in acomplete and
timely manner on a daily/job basis as well as documentation of labor
12. Pickup and delivery of equipment and parts to and from outside vendors andother
locations for purchase and/or repair
13. Recognize and communicate the need for shop tools
14. Identify and communicate the need for parts for inventory
15. Using some degree of independent judgment, is responsible for the safemaintenance and
repair of a variety of complex rental equipment and tools, which involvemechanical,
hydraulic, gas, diesel and electrical systems at branch or customer locations
16. Perform maintenance check on rental equipment before and after use fordamage, hours
used, tires, mileage, fuel levels, safety decals and safety compliance
17. Perform, in a safe manner, major and minor repairs of rental equipment andtools, including checking oil, grease, fluids, brake jobs, engine overhaul,powertrain repair and any other type of repair necessary
18. Assist in the training of junior technicians
19. Maintain a service vehicle in a clean and professional manner; ensure thevehicle is
always properly maintained
