JOB DESCRIPTION
Title: Patient Services Assistant
Supervisor: Practice Manager
Summary: The Fremont Orthopaedics, PC, patient services assistant works at both clinic locations to offer excellent customer service to patients, community members, and healthcare providers and to facilitate the thorough and efficient flow of patient care and information through the clinics.
Responsibilities:
Patient Relations & Customer Service
- Welcome all patients and family members to clinics; direct completion of required paperwork for new and established patients. Answer questions regarding intake process and insurance coverage.
- Maintain patient accounts by collecting copays, deductibles, and balances due.
- Answer phone, check and relay messages, and schedule patient appointments.
- Process patient requests for medication refills, physical therapy orders, doctors’ notes, records and images.
- Assist in communication of messages and records between practice surgeons and outside healthcare providers.
Administrative Duties
- Enter data accurately into printed records and EHR
- Process incoming faxes and route to correct recipient or scan into patient chart
- Conduct insurance eligibility verification when necessary.
- Preparation of patient charts for upcoming clinics.
- Review forms and orders completed by surgeons during clinic and provide feedback regarding completeness.
- Assist practice manager with administrative tasks.
Other
- Provide additional support to clinical staff and surgeons as requested.
- Maintain reception area in clean and orderly fashion.
- Maintain confidentiality of all patient information in accordance with HIPAA and federal and state regulations. Adhere to professional standards, policies and procedures, and applicable laws and regulations.
- Uphold current infection control guidelines.
- Participate in staff meetings and trainings.
- Other duties as assigned.
