The New Braunfels Civic & Convention Center offers over 50,000 square feet of versatile and modern event space and they’re looking for an upbeat, service-oriented person to join their team!
GENERAL PURPOSE: Under minimal supervision, performs a variety of custodial functions, set-up and take down of event equipment; assists in maintaining the Civic/Convention Center in accordance with all safety regulations, established procedures and in a professional and presentable manner; provides excellent customer service.

Monitors events and maintains contact with clients to ensure guest and vendor safety and that City and Center policies have been followed; documents damage or policy violations to Facility Operations Supervisor; recognizes, avoids, and reports unsafe acts, conditions, accidents and injuries.

Greets clients and guests upon arrival with a friendly and professional manner and appearance; communicates audio/visual equipment and facility capabilities to clients.

Assists in ensuring a professional, safe facility for the community.

Unlocks all outside entrance doors upon arrival, and locks all outside access doors at the end of events or at the close of business hours.

Performs assigned duties in setting-up and breaking down for meetings and events as instructed through written and/or oral communication.

Operates, demonstrates, and communicates audio/visual equipment and facility capabilities to clients.

Operates and uses proper methods, supplies and equipment to clean and maintain the facility and grounds: operates and maintains a variety of facility equipment.

Performs routine building maintenance duties including but not limited to: light carpentry, painting, and changing bulbs, filters and batteries.

Maintains facility grounds and sidewalks for cleanliness and safe use.

Inventories and stores equipment prior to and after events, ensuring its safe return to designated areas.

Responds to client, guest, and management requests in a timely and professional manner.

Preforms client check ins every 15-30 minutes during events to ensure all trash is disposed of, Audio visual equipment is working properly, and like issues are resolved.

Completes event reports at the conclusion of all events and submits them to Center Management for approval.

Maintains a professional relationship with City of New Braunfels employees, vendors and clients.

Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Education and Experience:
High School diploma or GED equivalent, AND one (1) year of related work experience in a hospitality or service driven facility, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Bilingual preferred.
Required Licenses or Certifications:

Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License.
Required Knowledge of:
-
Basic tools and equipment used in custodial maintenance.

Safety rules and regulations, occupational hazards and safety precautions relative to custodial work and the use of cleaning agents.
Required Skill in:

Safe and efficient operation and maintenance of tools and equipment according to standard operating and safety procedures.

Effective communication skills, both verbal and written for positive relationships with employees, citizens, and the general public.
Physical Demands / Work Environment:

Work is performed indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, with exposure to hazardous chemicals and equipment, requires constant physical efforts, and ability to safely lift, carry, and move items weighing up to fifty (50) pounds.

Must be able to work a flexible work schedule to include but not limited to weekdays, weekends, holidays, and on any assigned shift in an assigned uniform. Assigned shift will be primarily Tuesday-Saturday from 4:00 P.M. – 12:00 A.M.
