Microbiology Lab Manager

Summary/Objective
Industry leader in sterile facility design, evaluation, and compliance assurance is seeking an individual with a microbiology background to join our cleanroom performance evaluation team. This position will expand a team of professionals experienced in sterile facility certification by adding a microbiologist to the team.
Main Responsibilities
The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:
· Supervise and coordinate the activities of laboratory staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performing evaluations
· Perform microbiological sampling of controlled environments
· Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for laboratory processes ensuring adherence to regulatory standards and best practices
· Develop and implement procedures for reporting and document-control within the laboratory
· Manage inventory, ordering, and maintenance of laboratory supplies and equipment
· Oversee the setup, calibration, and troubleshooting of laboratory instruments
· Ensure the compliance with safety protocols and regulations, including proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials
Basic Qualifications/ Core competencies
· Microbiology degree or experience in microbiological testing and evaluation – USP <797> experience or knowledge is a plus
· Previous experience working in a microbiology laboratory, with demonstrated proficiency in microbiological techniques and methodologies
· Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to motivate and supervise a diverse team of laboratory personnel
· Excellent organizational, problem solving, and decision-making abilities, with a keen attention to detail
· Knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements and quality assurance standards (e.g. USP, ISO, cGxP)
· Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to interact professionally with both internal and external customers
· Proficiency in laboratory information management systems (LIMS), data analysis software, and other relevant computer applications
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
· Travel locally and nationally / occasional overnight travel required
· Regular field work
· Standing for periods of 3 – 4 hours at a time
· Typically Monday – Friday with weekends as needed
· Overtime as needed to complete relevant tasks

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
