THE OPPORTUNITY
We are currently seeking an experienced Hotel Banquet Captain to join our team at the brand new SpringHill Suites Downey.
The Banquet Captain will oversee the set-up and service of assigned banquet functions in accordance with departmental policies and quality/safety standards. The Banquet Captain must be able to interact with all employees and guests while maintaining a professional, pleasant and friendly demeanor.
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Reviews and has a thorough understanding of all banquet event orders to coordinate scheduled events.
- Inspects each function room prior to scheduled event to check whether room setup, menu, and schedule of events conforms to the banquet event order.
- Observes and enforces proper service and clearing techniques and replenishment of food items.
- Cleanup and breakdown of function after its completion; accounts for all equipment and supplies; and ensures its return to storage area.
- Provides banquet staff with direction at each function to ensure guest.
- Responsible for training Banquet Staff.
- Greets host/hostess, reiterates service details and relays and executes any last minute instructions.
Job Qualifications & Requirements:
- High school required.
- College degree. preferred
- Requires a minimum of two (2) years experience in guest contact areas of the hospitality industry.
- Hotel experience preferred; Previous experience in a similarly-sized hotel.
- Two (2) years of Banquet captain of Food and Beverage supervisory experience necessary.
Licenses and Certificates:
- Must obtain any government required licenses or certificates, such as an Food Handler and/or Alcohol Service Permit
- CPR Certification and/or First Aid Training required.
