Job Summary:
The Commercial Installation Manager is responsible for running the Commercial segment of the Installation department. Additionally, they are responsible for the quality control, budget, and efficiency of the Commercial Installation department.
Schedule and Availability:
- Weekdays during normal business hours from 7am to 5pm
- Must be available to work outside normal work hours as necessary, including evenings and weekends.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Responsible for compliance with all Commercial-specific labor laws and regulations
- Schedule and maintain all housing and travel required for installation as necessary
- Training all new employees in Installation techniques and processes and leading training sessions with current Installers to update on best practices as necessary
- Planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining behaviors; addressing and resolving concerns and facilitating professional development
- Responsible for conducting regular performance evaluations and any necessary disciplinary proceedings within the department
- Responsible for the overall efficiency, quantity and quality of work performed in the commercial installation processes. This includes ensuring all key positions have adequate back-up and providing resources for all individuals to perform their functions
- Responsible for the proper usage of Installation Digital Tools such as Company Cam, PIES, Etc.
- Works with Warehouse Manager for outflow efficiencies.
- Develop and maintain audit program for all install crews (external and internal) and supervisors including, but not limited to:
- Vehicle Audits
- Tool Audits
- Supply purchasing and stock
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinates and verifies installation schedules as needed with Project Managers and Commercial Sales representatives
- Assist with oversight on contracts and other specifications to determine method of installation, work procedures, and material, tool, and work aid requirements
- Drive accuracy and urgency within the install team by championing FTC
- Encourage utilization and continuous improvement of installation processes, systems, and metrics
- Develop and regularly communicate Installation objectives and strategies to various stakeholders
- Must develop an expert level understanding of all Pella products and their applications
- Serve as a promoter of company Safety Program (participate in meetings, recommend policies and procedures, enforce safety policies and procedures, conduct safety audit tours, review accident analysis and trends, accident statistics and reports)
- Responsible for making business arrangements with subcontractors, holding subcontractors accountable for work performed, working with subcontractors on various contracts, and holding subcontractors to high performance standards
- Partner with the Operations Manager in the development of measurement tools and the success of continuous improvement efforts
- Review installation “allowances” to measure and identify improvement. Implement any changes effectively.
- Branch knowledge leader and resource on the usage of systems in the install process
- Attend and sometimes facilitate company or department meetings/training sessions, product training sessions, etc.
- Oversee operations segment of commercial projects including but not limited to pre-bid, bid, contract, and installation processes
- Compile and analyze labor and material cost for each job after completion
- Maintain accurate records of labor and materials for each job
- Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned
General Management and Integration
- Acts as a liaison in creating proactive communication between all segments
- Maintains open lines of communication and seeks input of others to ensure constantly improving levels of customer satisfaction
- Acts as a point of contact for and cooperates with requests from Pella Corporation
- Displays strong problem resolution skills and the aptitude to overcome substantial obstacles to satisfy customer needs
- Enforces company and department policies when applicable
- Fosters integration throughout the entire organization

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong understanding of all Pella products and their applications strongly preferred
- Must have outstanding problem-solving skills and the ability to demonstrate a high level of responsiveness towards urgent commercial installation issues
- Must exhibit superior communication skills and the ability to maintain professionalism in times of adversity and pressure

Education and Experience:
- Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to teach usage of power tools (i.e., table saw, circular or miter saw, pneumatic nail gun, power drill, etc.), ladders, and scaffolding is required
- Five years in construction industry required
- Two years of commercial project management strongly preferred
- Two years of window and door installation experience strongly preferred
- Trim carpentry experience preferred
- OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) 10 certification required
- OSHA 30 certification strongly preferred
Mathematical and Reasoning Skills
- Ability to perform calculations using units of money, time, measurement, etc.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, length, width, height, and depth
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Ability to adhere to commercial project budgets while maximizing profitability
Computer Skills:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, smart devices, and the ability to learn proprietary software programs and applications
- Ability to use Excel to run reports, analyze data, create, and track budgets etc.
- Familiar with industry standard project management software
Communication Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written English language skills are required as well as good customer service skills (in person or via the phone).
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, blueprints, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, type or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit, stoop, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
