Position Goal:
To maintain building systems and grounds in a condition of operating excellence so that full educational use of them may be made at all times.
Location: District Wide
Salary:
- $17.50-$22.50/hr.
- Pay based on level of experience.
- Salary and work year is established by the Board and Director of Maintenance and Facilities.
Hours Per Day:
- Day Shift – 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
Days Per Year:
- Full time – 12-month position.
- Options for flexible hours.

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One year experience in one or more of the following skilled maintenance fields: HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Roofing, Carpentry, Door Locks and Hardware Systems, Access Controls, Painting, Welding, Burglar Alarm Systems, or Fire Alarm Systems.
- Prefer 3 years skilled maintenance experience.
- Journeyman or Master level trade license or ability to work towards obtaining license upon employment.
- Willingness and ability to learn other trades.
- Ability to use technology such as computers and tablets effectively.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds waist level and up to 60 pounds repetitively.
- Must have a positive attitude and ability to work with a team towards a common goal.
- Ability to work in extreme heat and extreme cold conditions to perform assigned duties.
- Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license throughout employment.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
- All USD 383 must complete a background check.
Reports To:
- Director of Maintenance and Facilities.
- Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the Board’s policy on evaluation of classified personnel.
Standard Performance Responsibilities:
- Maintain and repair systems in the following skilled fields: electrical, mechanics, painting, plumbing, fire alarms, mass notification systems, burglar alarm systems, electronic lock systems, access controls systems, and roof systems.
- Provides assistance to other maintenance technicians to complete larger jobs outside of specific skilled trade, including but not limited to welding, electrical, mechanics, painting, plumbing, door hardware, fire alarms, electronic locks, access controls, roofing, HVAC systems, and cleaning.
- Responds to alarm calls in all District buildings, accessing situation and determining necessary action, during and after regular school hours.
- Willingness to participate in on-call rotation and respond to emergency situations after hours.
- Attend daily meetings regarding current work orders to help define completion of projects.
- Other general maintenance work; servicing equipment, clearing snow and ice, grounds upkeep, cleaning, and hauling as designated by supervisor.
- Maintain tools and equipment to ensure availability and safe operation at all times.
- Become cross trained in all areas of general and skilled maintenance, thereby reducing District dependence on outside service contractors.
- Procures supplies and equipment necessary to maintain parts inventory for trade.
- District will provide an opportunity to obtain a commercial driver’s license with S and P endorsements. This is optional.
- All other duties as assigned.
