Summary: It is the responsibility of the HVAC-R Instructor to fully prepare and instruct students, assess student achievement, employ a variety of instructional strategies to enhance learning and student performance, enforce school policies and procedures, identify / assist at-risk students, actively engage in retention activities, and provide support for program and institutional initiatives to achieve the program’s goals and outcomes.
Primary Responsibilities
Instruction—60%
- Instruct students in theory and practical curricula in a residential and online setting, as scheduled
- Plan course instruction based upon approved syllabus/outline provided, to assure that course content and objectives are met
- Design, administer, and grade examinations to assess achievement of the course objectives as identified in the syllabus
- Distribute and cover all materials as listed on the syllabi and adhere to grading policy on the syllabi
- Utilize a variety of teaching styles and methods to accommodate student learning styles
- Record and submit legible, accurate and detailed attendance and grade records in the required timeframe
- Attend and participate in regularly scheduled faculty meetings
Student Advisement—25%
- Prepare student progress reports for each phase/session and submit to Program Director for approval. Then distribute and advise students regarding their progress.
- Interact with students for the purpose of academic advisement, needs assessment and planning, disciplinary action, conflict resolution, externship, and career planning.
- Participate and assist in registration, orientation, and graduation processes
Compliance—10%
- Maintain practices and procedures for meeting primary outcomes, including student retention, student satisfaction, student completion, graduate certification, and placement results
- Maintain and demonstrate compliance with accurate and complete documentation to meet accreditation standards
- Attend semiannual advisory committee meeting for program
Other assignments as needed—5%
Qualifications
- Education: HS Diploma/GED—required. Post-secondary training or Associate Degree in field of program preferred. (Work experience may be substituted)
- 3 years of recent experience in the specialty area or program
- Excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills both written and oral
-Experience with navigating web based learning management systems
