Bedford-Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation, founded in 1967, is the nation’s first community development corporation nestled in the heart of Central Brooklyn in Bed-Stuy. About the Role
The Center for Personal Financial Health (CPFH), a key driver of Restoration's focus on disrupting the racial wealth gap, strives to advance Black individuals in Brooklyn, by equipping individuals with social support, expanding professional and employer networks to launch careers, and stewarding management of personal finances for long term growth and wealth generation. Three programmatic units fall within CPFH: Care Coordination, Financial Inclusion, and Training and Placement. The Care Coordination team helps clients improve their mental and physical health through social support benefits, counseling, and mental health screening. Our Financial Inclusion department accelerates upward economic mobility by empowering clients to accumulate net worth. Finally, our Training and Placement team enables financial stability through job placement and career advancement. The Administrative Assistant is the first point of contact and will ensure all clients receive a warm greeting, general overview of programs, and introduction to triage. AA will assist JCC / ICC with entering general demographic information into the RD Database.
AA will follow up with all participants via email or telephone to thank them for coming and keep them abreast of onsite events. AA will be responsible for all front desk functions; including answering of telephones, taking messages or transferring calls to appropriate individuals, responding to member inquiries, checking voicemail daily, scheduling of first time appointments with JCCs/lCCs, follow up and reminder calls to members for upcoming appointments. AA will assign participants to JCC, track no shows and reschedule appointments. AA will order supplies for all units, make copies, and maintain a wall of fliers. AA will maintain/ update internal electronic sign-in & touch-point tracker. AA will assist and provide support to both Intake Care Coordinator and Care Coordinators as needed. AA will be trained in the functions of the Intake Care Coordinator and may be requested to fill in as needed.
What you bring to the Role
Ideal Candidates will possess: Bachelor's Degree with 1 year of Social Service Experience or High school or equivalency with 1+ years of social work or customer service experience- Knowledge of community resources and counseling/social work practices with underserved populations.
- Experience working in a demanding, fast paced, high volume environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and good documentation skills.
- Ability to establish rapport and motivate others towards achieving goals.
- Ability to work independently with a strong sense of focus, task-oriented, nonjudgmental, open personal qualities, clear sense of boundaries.
- A strong sense of and respect for confidentiality involving both clients and fellow employees.
- Ability to work in a variety of settings with culturally-diverse families and communities with the ability to be culturally sensitive and appropriate.
- Experience with data systems and basic office software {Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Google calendar and meets.
