Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Lifts, turns, maneuvers, ambulates, moves, and transfers residents (e.g. assists with mobility; moves residents in and out of bed; lifts residents to and from chairs, wheelchairs, stretchers, crutches, or walkers; transports residents).
- Checks and records vital signs and other resident data including, but not limited to, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respirations, and weight. Immediately reports changes in a resident’s condition.
- Promptly and urgently answers resident call lights and alarms.
- Performs restorative and rehabilitative procedures.
- Administers quality routine health care and hygiene management services, including bathing and toileting.
- Assists with range-of-motion exercises and provides therapeutic massage, as required.
- Collects lab specimens as required.
- Manages non-sterile bandages and administers compresses, dressings, ice packs, and K-pads.
- Feeds residents or assists in feeding (e.g. maneuvers residents near meal trays; assists feeding residents; records residents’ food intake, output, and eating patterns; removes soiled trays). Perform after-meal care.
- Maintains resident comfort levels (e.g. positions in bed; lifts, turns, and assists with pillows and sheets). Tends to residents’ comfort care requests.
- Dresses and grooms residents. Dons and doffs resident apparel, footwear, and accessories.
- Manages bed linens and maintains a clean, orderly, and sanitary resident living quarters.
- Establishes and maintains respectful, friendly, and hospitable relations with residents. Greets residents and engages them in topical conversation. Creates an atmosphere of positivity and calm for residents.
Required qualifications:
- Eighteen (18) years of age or older.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Pennsylvania nursing assistant certificate in good standing.
- Experience in acute care or long-term care preferred, but not required.
- Compassionate and customer service-oriented attitude.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
- Patience, tact, and a cheerful disposition.
