Position Summary: Responsible for setting up and operating the automated palletizer and working with the bag line operator. Monitors the production schedule and verifies that the bags, secondary labeling, and materials packaged are correct. Using the forklift, bring in pallets and bags to run the product. Assists with other duties (including any production position and cleaning) as necessary by the shift supervisor to meet the company's production goals.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintains the palletizer equipment to achieve optimum efficiency.
- Conducts equipment repair and assists the maintenance department with significant repairs.
- Communicates equipment status and equipment conditions to the shift supervisor and the maintenance department
- Load the palletizer with coordinating pallets assigned with the current running bags/product.
- Utilizes forklifts to bring in bags per schedule for the line operator.
- Fill out the computer checklist and verify and print the corresponding label as needed
- Verifies that the weighing systems used in producing fertilizers and ice melt are correctly calibrated and any product dispensed meets the weight tolerances of the specific package.
- Set up the automated palletizer system to efficiently turn and stack bags neatly and efficiently.
- Monitor labelers and ink jetters, ensuring they are correct at all times and maintaining their efficiency.
- Monitor the reject conveyer for corrections to decent rejected product.
- Assist cleaning material handling piping and screeners
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Documents downtime and any quality deficiencies in the appropriate logbooks.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs other job functions as directed by the production supervisor within the scope of their training.
- Assists with confined space entry and clean-out procedures as needed.
- Maintains annual Haz-Woper training and thoroughly understands the Hazardous Waste rules and requirements for this site
- Conduct samples/tests of new products or materials before becoming standard items
Work Relationships and Scope: Reports directly to the production supervisor. Interacts directly with the control room operator and other production employees. Assists new employees to understand the basic principles of their job.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Education/Training: High school diploma, certificate, or diploma beyond high school desired
Experience: Experience in a manufacturing environment with experience/knowledge of basic mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical principles.

Working Conditions:
Job Conditions/Work Location: Work is performed primarily in the bag room and may include working in the screener area or rooftop locations. The average workweek is 42.5 hours.
Physical Requirements: The ability to be on your feet the entire day, bend, stoop, and lift 60 pounds repeatedly, climb distances up to 98 feet, and work from elevated platforms. The ability to wear a cartridge respirator and become respirator certified.
Equipment Used: Weight scales, automated bagging system, automated palletizer, various forms of PPE, including safety glasses, hearing protection, chemical protective gloves, and respirators.
