The District Sales Manager role will be responsible to achieve sales targets, develop and maintain an effective network of Honda Marine Full-Line, package and rental dealers to sell Honda Marine products in the assigned territory. This role will also support dealers' sales effort while achieving wholesale goals, report market and industry trends, directly sell Honda outboard motors and rigging components to Retail Marine Dealers, and manage the account relationship for Honda on all levels, from executive management to sales personnel. The person will represent Honda Marine at dealer sales events, manage co-op advertising and seek new retail marine dealers (Full Line and Package) to support the increased sales and market share of Honda Marine.
- Achieve Honda Marine market share, wholesale, retail sales goals via the following activities:
- Develop, execute sound management system to grow assigned territory
- Disseminate sales, product, and program information to Dealers
- Develop, implement Dealer marketing initiatives to drive Honda Marine retail sales
- Manage Dealer sales drivers for sales results (inventory, marketing, price, training)
- Dealer Relationships
- Act as consultant to Honda Dealers to create value in the channel
- Visit Dealers and support their needs and requests in a timely manner
- Provide timely, accurate, and relevant data and information to Dealers
- Strive to represent Honda Marine consistent with Honda’s Core Values
- Channel Prospecting
- Evaluate territory needs to determine addressable and potential Honda market
- Develop and execute Dealer Development strategies and initiatives for territory growth
- Evaluate prospects for Honda Marine fit and initiate new Dealer applications
- Track and follow-up with new Dealer application process to assure territory success
- Market and Industry Reports
- Collect and document market intelligence from Dealers for each market segment
- Document market conditions and report situation to Sales management weekly
- Create, report 1-2 reviews / year to communicate market trends, strategies for success
- Attend and actively participate in 2-3 National Sales meetings (engaged participation)
- Training
- Continuously teach and mentor Dealers regarding business best practices
- Track Dealer training to ensure Honda Marine program compliance
- Train Dealers to assure all Honda policies are understood and followed
- Clearly communicate Honda Ethics policy to ensure awareness and compliance
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing or Business
- Equivalent work experience
- 7+ years of Marine Industry experience
- Basic knowledge of Boats and Marine equipment
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including listening
- Solid Business Acumen and Analytical skills
