Hours would be Monday through Friday from 7:30am to 3:30p
Center Assistant
The Center Assistant reports to the Center Director. They work under the guidance of teachers when in the classrooms and under the Center Director when setting up food service and after meals clean up. The center assistant will be assigned to assist teachers with the supervision of children and with other center chores, (such as laundry, washing tables and chairs, etc.). The Center Assistant is responsible for food service and maintaining the kitchen environment. The Center Assistant does not supervise the work of others.
Additional Minimum qualifications:
· Previous kitchen/cook experience is desirable.
· Previous experience working with young children is desirable.
· Ability to perform basic math calculations and work with fractions.
Principle responsibilities:
· Prepares all meals and delivers meals and table service to each classroom according to the schedule set by the Center Director.
· Returns dishes, left over food, etc. to the kitchen after meals.
· Cleans all kitchen surfaces with approved disinfectant.
· Washes dishes and loads (and unloads) dishwasher/sanitizer.
· Stores food supplies in the designated containers in the appropriate places.
(This includes storage of groceries delivered to the center as well as daily food supplies.)
· Assists in keeping the center attractive and sanitary.
· Is responsible for the daily menu record keeping duties.
· Regularly cleans refrigerator, freezer, stove, etc.
· Is knowledgeable and follows licensing and CACFP guidelines.
· Maintains inventory and plans ahead.
· Attends required CACFP training annually.
· Performs other tasks as assigned by the Center Director.
Additional Physical Demands:
· Job requires the ability to lift, carry, push or pull up to 50 pound loads of supplies, food carriers, or small children.
· Must be able to visually observe children in the classroom and on the playground.
· Must be able to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word.
· Must be able to move body fast enough to keep small children from harm.
Work Environment:
The majority of time will be spent in a pleasant interior with good lighting and temperature control.
