POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for examining, evaluating, and authorizing or recommending approval of customer applications for lines or extensions of residential real estate loans, consumer loans, or credit card accounts. Individuals in this position have the unique opportunity to view confidential customer information and become trusted financial advisors. Loan officers are not only to look for lending opportunities, but also should look for any opportunity to sell the bank’s services to customers.
ESSENTIAL ACTIVITIES
· Maintain quality customer service and support.
· Interview applicants and request specified information for proper analysis of loan request.
· Analyze applicant financial status, credit history, repayment ability and collateral offered to determine feasibility of granting loan request.
· Make decision on loan request based on information obtained if within established limits or make recommendation to superiors or Loan Committee.
· Ensure loans are properly assigned Risk Ratings based on system established and defined in Loan Policy.
· Ensure loan agreements are complete and accurate according to Loan Policy.
· Analyze potential loan markets to develop prospects for loans.
· Collect past due accounts and work with Collections Department to resolve problem loans as quickly as possible.
· Promote the Bank through business development efforts and civic activities.
· Sell value added products (e.g., life insurance) which may be made available to customers from time to time.
· Assign/schedule work activities.
· Conduct employee performance evaluations.
ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES
· Oversee special projects assigned from time to time.
· Chair or serve on various Bank committees as requested.
· Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
· B.S. degree in related field desired.
· High school diploma or equivalent plus two years of business or technical school.
· Three (3) years of progressively related experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
· Knowledge of keyboard, adding machine and general office equipment.
· Knowledge of basic accounting principles.
· Basic computer knowledge.
· Good mathematical skills.
· Good written and verbal communication skills.
· Ability to make sound judgments.
· Ability to resolve difficult situations.
· Ability to analyze complex situations.
· Leadership ability with a high degree of initiative and independence.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
· Ability to perform work utilizing a computer for extended periods of time.
· Ability to grasp objects utilizing the fingers (fine motor manipulation).
· Ability to reach for objects above the head or below the waist.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
