Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of the accounting department including cash management, invoicing/billing, accounts payable, customer credit and collections
- Journal entry preparation
- Accounting system maintenance
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal, tax and reporting requirements.
- Manage the preparation of the monthly reporting package and meet with management/owners to discuss.
- Direct and coordinate debt service payments with external banks and agencies and monitor debt covenants.
- Serve as primary contact for certain company financial matters with outside relationships such as: accounting firm, credit card companies, collection agencies, IT companies, etc.
- Handle all external audits/reviews, providing information to external accountants and other auditors.
- Develop and manage accounting staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
- Manage accounting staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees, planning, monitoring and appraising job results.
- Exercise confidentiality related to financial and operational information and plans.
Knowledge and Qualifications
To accomplish the above duties, Nu Ray requires the person holding this position to generally possess the following:
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in Business, major/emphasis in accounting
- 3-4 years’ experience in private industry with experience in all financial aspects of a company with direct report to top level management or owners
- CPA preferred but not required.
- Supervisory experience leading the accounting team of at least 2 individuals.
- Technical: Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles. Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations. Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections.
- Professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
