Operational responsibilities include gathering product technical requirements, documentation, providing recommendations for streamlining and optimizing engineering processes, and ensuring technical requirements and controls are adhered to. With oversight over all internal and external technical teams, the Sr. Product Engineering Manager will ensure technical teams are meeting their deliverables on time, within scope, and within budget.

Founded in 1947, CEB is one of California’s oldest and most prestigious legal information and continuing legal education providers. CEB publishes judgments of California case law, practical guidance for attorneys and, CLE all in a variety of practice areas and formats e.g. print, online and, in-person. We are an arm of UCLA Extension as we provide continuing education needed for licensed lawyers and other legal professionals.
Job Summary:
The Sr. Product Engineering Manager is relentlessly customer-focused, creative, and solutions oriented. Reporting to the Head of Product, the Sr. Product Engineering Manager will be responsible for developing technical solutions and translating high level product requirements into detailed technical requirements. Working with internal and external engineering teams, the Sr. Product Engineering Manager will manage technical reviews, engineering priorities and risks, and proper change controls to successfully execute against the product roadmap in alignment with requirements. This is a highly visible, cross functional role that requires proven abilities to sustain strong working relationships with technical and non-technical teams.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, computer science, or other related technical fields, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Software Development Five plus years of software development experience, preferably in a content publishing environment
- Demonstrated ability to lead software development, technical and/or product management teams
- Expertise in front-end and back-end technologies
- Experience architecting, building, testing, and deploying scalable and reliable software applications.
- Strong understanding of software architecture, scalability, and security principles.
- Demonstrated ability to drive technical innovation and lead projects from concept to delivery
- Demonstrated ability to transform high level product requirements into actionable technical requirements (e.g., user stories, acceptance criteria, etc.).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to simplify complex issues or technology to stakeholders including senior-level technical and non-technical audiences, and to influence outcomes to meet objectives.
- Proven ability to work cross-functionally and make decisions in a collaborative virtual environment.
Salary Range: $150,000 – $180,000
