POSITION DUTIES AND QUALIFICATIONS
SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
The System Administrator administers, installs, troubleshoots, and maintains servers, storage, server operating systems, and the City's enterprise e-mail application and hardware. Provides assistance in resolving problems, setting policies, administrative procedures, systems monitoring, and systems documentation.
This position requires advanced systems support, analytical, and documentation skills to support the business needs of the organization. Systems Administrators frequently interact with stakeholders at all levels of the organization. The Information Technology Department is a 24/7 operation. Incumbents will be required to serve in an on-call status to respond to requests and emergencies occurring after normal business hours.

The Systems Administrator position with the City of Tucson’s Information Technology Department administers, troubleshoots, installs, and maintains the City's infrastructure environment. This environment includes servers, storage, server operating systems, Office 365, systems monitoring, and documentation
Worked is performed under the supervision if the Information Technology Manager. This position does not supervise.
Duties and Responsibilities
Server Infrastructure (40%) - Essential
Utilizes monitoring tools to proactively identify and resolve issues in server performance. Conducts regular health checks, system audits, and performance analyses to identify issues. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to address potential infrastructure improvements. Performs routine maintenance tasks, including patching and updates, to ensure optimal server performance. Configures and optimizes server hardware and operating systems for maximum efficiency. Administers environments, ensuring scalability and resource optimization. Designs, implements, and maintains the organization's cloud architecture. Participates in an On-Call rotation and maintains equipment in multiple locations.
Datacenter Systems (35%) - Essential
Maintains the configuration and optimization of the City's Office 365 environment. Maintains and updates associated hardware, gateways, and software to ensure secure and reliable services. Conducts thorough evaluations of hardware and software solutions, considering performance, scalability, and security. Collaborates with IT leadership to align technology purchases with the organization's strategic goals. Implements and tests backup solutions to ensure data integrity and availability. Develops and updates disaster recovery plans to minimize downtime in case of system failures. Coordinates and participates in regular drills to validate disaster recovery processes. Designs, implements, and maintains the organization's Public Key Infrastructure. Manages digital certificate lifecycles, enforces key management policies, and ensures security compliance.
Technical Support (20%) - Essential
Offers expertise and assistance in troubleshooting technical issues. Collaborates with colleagues to resolve complex problems and enhance overall team efficiency. Completes service requests and tasks within stated response times.
Other Duties (5%) - Non-Essential
Performs all other duties and tasks as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Minimum Hiring Salary: $32.15
Dependent upon experience, qualifications, and successful completion of any applicable job training**
Full Hourly Range: $32.15 - 55.46 USD
