Pre-Kindergarten Group Teacher Responsibility and Duties:
- Create, develop, and implement age-appropriate lesson plans and activities for Pre-Kindergarten students.
- Provide a safe, nurturing and supportive learning environment that promotes exploration, discovery, learning and development.
- Teach foundational skills in Literacy & Writing, Math, and other subjects (i.e. STEM and Art, etc.)
- Foster social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development through positive reinforcement, guidance, structured activities.
- Facilitate teacher-interactive activities in which the Pre-K Teacher will be directly interacting and engaged with each student individually (Curricular Goals).
- Accountable and responsible for developmentally appropriate practices in which early learners will be assessed in a variety of Multi-Sensory activities to support individual Cognitive Skills and Motor Skills development.
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff to support student success and to ensure a cohesive and positive learning environment for age-appropriate implementation of a comprehensive curriculum.
- Monitor, evaluate, and assess student's milestone progress indictor level through DAILY observation(s), and provide feedback to parents/guardians.
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding their child's progress and any concerns or updates.
- Use behavior management techniques to promote a positive classroom environment.
- Use effective classroom management techniques to ensure a positive learning environment.
- Maintain a safe, clean, organized classroom environment, adhering to health and safety guidelines.
- Adhere to guidelines in accordance to the Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale®, Revised (ECERS-R™), specifically Classroom Space and Furnishings, Personal Care Routines, Language, Reasoning, Activities, Interaction, Program Structure, Assessment, etc.
- Plan and organize classroom activities, field trips, and special events.
Pre-Kindergarten Group Teacher Qualifications:
- Minimum of an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education with a VALID NON-EXPIRED Child Development Associate (CDA) credential endorsement from the New Jersey Registry for Childhood Professionals (NJCCIS/NJ Registry) is preferred.
- Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education (or, related field) with a Preschool through Grade 3 (P-3) Certificate of Eligibility (CE) credential (endorsement code 1013) from The State of New Jersey, Department of Education, State Board of Examiners is preferred for novice teacher applicants.
- Group Teacher or Head Teacher Option endorsement from the New Jersey Registry for Childhood Professionals (NJCCIS/NJ Registry).
- Experience in lesson planning and curriculum development delivery in an urban classroom preschool setting.
- Knowledge of early intervention strategies and behavior management techniques.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Ability to create engaging lesson plans that meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Ability to demonstrate and effectively apply differential instruction teaching strategies.
- Understanding of cultural competence in pedagogical and developmentally appropriate practices.
- Familiarity with Understanding Licensing Requirements under Chapter 52 - MANUAL OF REQUIREMENTS FOR CHILD CARE CENTERS (N.J.A.C. 3A:52).
- Understanding of child welfare, NJ Abuse/Neglect Mandatory Reporting Requirements, and the importance of creating a safe and inclusive learning environment
- Proficiency in classroom management techniques to maintain order and maximize learning opportunities.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively interact with children, parents, and staff.
- Experience working with students who may require Early Intervention or additional support.
- Familiarity and ability to support and manage behavior effectively using positive discipline and reinforcement techniques, i.e. Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Early Intensive Behavioral intervention (EIBI).
- Ability to provide Physical Education activities for young children.
- Proficiency in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math (STEM) and Art concepts relevant to the NJ State Department of Education Preschool Teaching and Learning Standards.
- Passion for educating young children and promoting their overall well-being.
