Primary Function:
The Director of Operations reports to the Vice President of Shared Services and oversees all warehouse and distribution center activities across all locations to support customer order fulfillment. The Director of Operations is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of incoming products and raw materials, managing production, and shipment, and ensuring the safety of goods throughout the warehouses.
Specific Duties:
- Manage and coordinate all operational activities of the Receiving, Production, Inventory Management, and Shipping departments, including record keeping, process development, training, policy & procedures, and all safety & security functions.
- Complies with federal, state, and local warehousing, material handling, and shipping requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; and advising management on needed actions.
- Maintains physical condition of warehouses by planning and implementing new design layouts; inspecting equipment; issuing work orders for repair and requisitions for replacement.
- Achieves financial objectives by preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; and initiating corrective actions.
- Maintains warehouse staff job results by coaching, counseling, disciplining employees, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
- Develop, maintain, and improve processes ensuring effective and efficient operational methods are in place and being followed, always.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Minimum 3 – 5 years’ experience as a Warehouse/Factory Manager in a high-volume distribution center with a proven track record of implementing best practices in labor efficiency.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheets, etc.
- Ability to work effectively with tight timelines.
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Clear sense of ownership and accountability
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate across functions.
Other Job Demands:
- Some overtime and Saturdays are required.
- Willing and able to work in a hot and cold warehouse environment.
- Occasionally lifts and moves up to 40 lbs.
- Extended periods standing/walking/bending/stooping/kneeling on concrete floors.
- Domestic travel could be up to as much as 25%.
