Women's Care was founded in 1998 by a small group of obstetrics and gynecology physicians in Tampa. Our organization has grown tremendously through the years by remaining true to its mission of improving the health of our patients every day.
Primary Responsibilities:
Responsible for creating an outstanding patient experience to include providing professional clinical care for patients following established standards and practices. Prepares patients during office visits and assists patients and family members before, during and after a doctor’s visit. Works under the direct supervision of the physician. Refers matters outside their scope of duties to the provider, Clinical Coordinator or Division Administrator.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare patients for examination and assists physician during treatment/procedures, examinations and testing of patients.
- Draw blood, give injections, and coordinate specimen routing to appropriate labs, according to protocols and orders submitted by medical providers.
- Prepare, restock and sterilize examination rooms, procedure rooms, lab area and all other patient care areas per established policies and procedures.
- Record patients' medical history, health maintenance, and chief complaint.
- Measure, record and document vital signs.
- Where applicable, perform phlebotomy, injections and other specimen collection per established policies and procedures as directed by the provider.
- Educate patients by providing information and instructions as directed by the provider; answering questions.
- Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following, and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
- Sterilize medical instruments per established standards and procedures.
- Relay messages from patients and front office staff to providers.
- Represent office in a professional manner. Treat all customers, internal and external, in a courteous and cooperative manner.
- Participate in team activities and professional development activities.
- Attend required meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
· High school diploma or equivalent
· Current, nationally recognized Medical Assistant Certification or eligible to obtain national Medical Assistant Certification within the first 90 days of employment.
· Current CPR and/or BLS certification or the ability to attain the certification within 30 days of employment
· Working knowledge of medical terminology
· Demonstrated ability to perform phlebotomy and administer injections, if applicable.
· Demonstrated ability to perform dosage calculations and measurement conversions.
· Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment in a deadline-oriented manner.
· Strong verbal and written communication skills.
· Ability to use a computer and enter data in electronic medical records application.
· Ability to obtain and maintain BLS certification and MA certification from an approved entity within the first 90 days of employment
· Travel between offices (as needed) to support provider scheduling is required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· 1-3 years’ experience working as a Medical Assistant and performing functions listed in the primary responsibilities
· Possesses both MA Certification and MA Program Diploma
· Experience with phlebotomy and working in an office lab drawing blood, giving injections and coordinating the routing of specimen to the appropriate labs.
· OB/GYN or primary care practice experience a plus
eCW electronic medical records experience is desirable
INTERACTIONS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
Must possess the ability to interact and communicate professionally and effectively with all levels of internal personnel, providers, personnel of outside organizations, and patients and their family members. Must possess good organizational skills, handle multiple tasks concurrently, and be able to work effectively with all levels of aforementioned groups.
Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances and other conditions common to a clinical environment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting up to 40 lbs, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Involves standing, walking, reaching and sitting. Requires normal visual acuity and hearing. Requires exposure to bodily fluids.

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
