Ronald C. Wornick Jewish Day School is a pluralistic, independent Jewish community day school serving students in TK through 8th grade in the Peninsula of the San Francisco Bay Area.
We are seeking a middle school ELA/Humanities instructor with demonstrated success in teaching literary analysis, composition, and grammar, and inspiring in young adolescents a love for reading and writing. In addition, all humanities classes engage students in collaborative discussions and independent projects, therefore the successful candidate will be both familiar and comfortable with project-based learning. Wornick teachers, under the supervision of the Assistant Head of School, are expected to differentiate instruction to meet a wide range of student needs and therefore create lessons that allow students to successfully access Common Core standards.

Essential Responsibilities
- Experience in working with middle school-aged children and in teaching literature, writing, and grammar effectively
- Familiarity with current middle school English Language Arts Common Core curricula and instructional strategies appropriate to the middle school learner
- Demonstrated success in designing and implementing differentiated instruction to meet individual student needs
- Familiarity with best practices in middle school instruction, including project-based learning
- Evidence of ongoing professional development
- Demonstrated commitment to a collaborative work style
- Personal characteristics: passion for working with children, optimism, flexibility, patience, commitment to personal and professional growth
- Technological competence and willingness to learn
- Willingness to carry out other duties and responsibilities beyond the classroom, as expected of all Wornick faculty
- Teaching credential or equivalent preparation to teach to middle school
Preferred Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree is required, California credential highly preferred
- At least three years of classroom experience required
- Experience leading advisory
- Experience with project based learning
- Experience in other content areas and with electives
- Embodies a growth mindset and able to build positive relationship with students, families and colleagues
- Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
Compensation and Perks
- Our salary range between $72,000 and $98,000 depending on experience
