Detroit Thermal seeks a confident, seasoned, hands-on Engineer to implement complex steam distribution and plant projects from initial concept to delivery and operation, including support of the business development team in assessing energy costs for current and prospective customers including life cycle cost analysis.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Assist in directly managing all aspects of the project including the site design, permitting, implementation, scheduling, etc.
- Interface and develop a rapport and positive relationship with client, co-workers, contractors, suppliers, and management.
- Manage and help prepare Project Budgets and Cost Control on both the project level and company level.
- Track time and quantities for project accounting.
- Project management support and training.
- Review field reports for accuracy and tracking.
- Assist management with documentation and coordination of all purchases.
- Assists in accomplishing engineering projects in support of the department.
- Conducts data collection and project reporting.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in civil and/or Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 1-5 years of experience in Civil/Mechanical Engineering
- Direct, hands-on, recent experience with AutoCAD software
- Background as a project manager/project designer with a small to mid-sized consulting/engineering firm.
- Practical knowledge and experience with local public contracts law, permitting, and the advertising/bid process and grants related to municipal site development.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; proven experience with client/contractor management, ability to mitigate issues as they arise, and develop win-win solutions.
- · Deadline-oriented, organized and easy-going professional who is comfortable being an agile, hands-on generalist in an entrepreneurial, busy business.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
