POSITION SUMMARY:
The Plant Production Engineer is responsible for safely maximizing profitability in the manufacturing and packaging of products that meet the required quality specifications produced using GrassWorx’ proprietary Continuous Injection Molding (CIM) process. This role has the authority to change standard operating procedures, establish quality specifications, manage product standard costs, and change personnel training and documentation.
BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITY/STATISTICAL INFORMATION:
Responsible for ensuring equipment and processes are effectively used to produce scheduled products at or below standard cost. Includes yield and rate loss performance totaling ~ $1000/hr.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Assist operators in troubleshooting and correcting process and quality issues
· Support maintenance with troubleshooting and technical analysis of existing equipment
· Maintain Process Instruction Sheets (PI Sheets) with current specifications and best practice operational notes
· Monitor and analyze Product Quality trending and take corrective action
· Monitor Process Metric data vs. standard for accuracy and take corrective actions as needed
o Downtime and root causes
o Line speeds and root causes
o Scrap rate and root causes
· Maintain Material BOMs in ERP system (Epicor) and underlying assumption models to reflect current standard costs
· Implement New Products into Routine Operation via NPR process
· Run plant trials
· Maintain training documentation for plant operations
· Assist in training and coaching of operators and mechanics
· Validate incoming raw material quality via melt index and DSC results
· Manage Quality system for UL and NSF compliance
· Conduct Quality Complaint investigations and update CAR’s
Back-up Plant Manager as needed:
· Prepare Extrusion production schedule and receive daily production in Epicor
· Ensure needed raw materials are available to meet schedule requirements
· Ensure proper staffing levels are in place to meet schedule requirements
SCHEDULE
· Day Shift
· 40 hrs per week, some weekends, occasional overtime
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education Requirements:
· Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent engineering/technology degree
Training Requirements:
· Technical or trade school experience in manufacturing is beneficial
License or Certification Requirements:
· None
Work Experience Requirements:
· 0-3 years' experience in industrial / manufacturing engineering related position
Additional Qualifications:
· Proficiency in Plastics Injection Molding processes
· Knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and industrial automation
· Familiarity with Root Cause Analysis techniques
· Ability to work with industrial equipment and tools
· Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
