Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized individual to join our team as an Accessioner. The Accessioner will play a crucial role in the initial processing of incoming samples or specimens, ensuring accurate and efficient recording of information for further analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive and log incoming samples or specimens according to established procedures.
- Verify and record relevant information such as patient demographics, sample type, and collection date.
- Label samples accurately, ensuring proper identification and traceability throughout the testing process.
- Prepare samples for storage or distribution to appropriate laboratory departments.
- Collaborate with laboratory personnel to resolve discrepancies or issues related to sample documentation.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the accessioning area, adhering to safety and quality standards.
- Assist with inventory management, including restocking supplies and tracking consumables.
- Adhere to regulatory requirements and company policies related to sample handling and data integrity.
- Participate in training sessions and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance job knowledge and performance.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or training in a relevant field preferred.
- Previous experience in specimen handling, accessioning, or data entry preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and documentation.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Proficiency in using computer systems and software for data entry and recordkeeping.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards in handling sensitive information.
- Willingness to adhere to safety protocols and follow standard operating procedures.
