Summary:
Under the general direction of the Program Supervisor, this position provides quality care at our Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) medical center. The primary focus will be on developing treatment and recovery plans, and identifying behaviors that impede rehabilitation.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Essential functions may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Assist with administrative daily activities to maintain safety, functionality and a positive work environment.
- Participate in cross-training experience, including duties that support the overall workflow of the clinic.
- Assess program qualifications and complete necessary intake procedures.
- Evaluate patients’ physical and mental behaviors.
- Provide direct support to patients using different modalities.
- Teach coping techniques and offer appropriate resources.
- Educate patients on treatment options, methods and techniques to ensure the patients understand the overall intake and treatment process.
- Develop appropriate treatment and recovery plans.
- Monitor patients over time to access treatment progress.
- Maintain good and timely records for patients. Agree to and comply with all agency policies and procedures.
- Collaborating with clinic staff, psychiatrists, doctors, nurses, social workers, and other departments.
- Work with other professional staff to collaborate on treatment methods and plans for patients and to assess suitability for counseling services or referral to other treatment centers.
- Assist in the design of promotional and educational program materials (monthly calendar, flyers, brochures, etc.) targeting specific needed populations.
- Maintain current information on community resources and relevant local service providers and update staff resource binder as necessary.
- Assist with administrative daily activities to maintain safety, functionality and a positive work environment.
- Attend meetings, participate in agency and community events as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Minimum Requirements:
Knowledge, skills, and abilities required to satisfactorily complete job:
- Chemical Dependency and Alcohol Counselor Training.
- Experience in individual and group educational workshops or counseling sessions.
- Excellent communication & interpersonal skills, and a compassionate nature.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Bilingual and bicultural preferred.
- Previous experience working with special needs populations.
- Experience with co-occurring health and mental health problems preferred.
- Knowledge of Substance Use and Mental Health Services’ (SAMHSA) best practice indicators.
- Interest in treating the underserved, low-income communities is highly desired.
- Ability to proceed on own initiative using independent judgment and discretion.
- Verification of employment eligibility. Must pass background check/sanction screening.
- TB clearance renewed annually.
Education/Licenses/Certifications:
- Alcohol and Drug Counseling Certification by an approved accrediting California Organization (CCAPP, CADTP, or CADEE) and in good standing.
- Associate Degree or Bachelor's Degree in behavioral health related field preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- In the course of performing this job, the incumbent typically spends time sitting, standing, walking, typing, filing, listening and speaking.
Mental Requirements:
- The incumbent in this position must be able to accommodate to any/all of the following: tolerance for distractions and interruptions.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $28.50 - $32.25 per hour
