Position Summary:
Create a library environment that is flexible, adaptive, and interactive which reflects 21st-century learning. Lead the integration of educational technology and informational literacy both with students and staff. Support implementation of district-adopted curriculum through instruction, technology integration, alignment of resources, and assessments to ensure student growth and achievement. Demonstrate leadership in the school and promote community involvement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Provide robust modeling and teaching of collaboration, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills needed to help students thrive in today's world.
- Enhance student achievement through leading, teaching; and/or co-teaching and promoting information literacy.
- Demonstrate a clear understanding of curriculum and approved supplemental materials and resources used at Excel Academy.
- Co-plan and co-teach with teachers to ensure ISTE Standards are implemented and digital governance is practiced.
- Actively collaborate to accomplish team, school, and district-wide goals.
- Align instructional practices with content knowledge in the planning process to meet student needs.
- Access and use current research and professional resources to increase and apply knowledge in order to teach timely and accurate content.
- Consistently display knowledge and usage of digital resources, including databases through Jeffco Public Schools and Jeffco Public Library, and remain current with emerging technology trends.
- Include strategies to promote higher-level thinking for students to interact with the rigorous and challenging content in a meaningful way that elicits thoughtful responses and actions from students.
- Consistently demonstrate varied research-based teaching strategies to meet the needs of all students.
- Provide frequent and varied digital opportunities for demonstration of student learning.
- Establish and maintain professional communication that is clear, responsible, and respectful.
- Ensure the library is safe, inviting, welcoming, and is the learning “hub” of the school.
- Provide a library environment and physical space that supports its patrons' learning and personal needs, ensuring the environment is inclusive for all students.
- Collaborate with staff on unit and lesson design implementation while integrating educational technology.
- Collaborate with staff to build an up-to-date library collection that supports literacy instruction and acquisition and meets the students’ curricular and personal interests.
- Partner with administration, instructional coach, and school leadership committee to provide timely staff professional development that is aligned with district/school goals and is differentiated for the participants’ learning needs.
- Exhibit the ability to teach and/or co-teach providing differentiation, interventions, and extensions to ensure the success of all students.
- Participate in Digital Teacher Librarian professional learning opportunities through the district.
- Provide individual and group instruction designed to meet individual needs.
- Effectively communicates with parents, staff, and administration through a variety of means.
- Creates a safe and effective environment for learning.
- Participates cooperatively with the Executive Director and/or Assistant Director by which s/he will be evaluated as a part of the Excel Academy and Colorado State guidelines for licensed personnel.
- Provides leadership to select enrichment learning.
- Participate in all trainings, team meetings, professional development, and faculty meetings.
- Selects and requisitions library and technology materials and maintains inventory records.
- Manages library circulation including overdue books.
- Coordinates Book Fairs and author visits in collaboration with the Enrichment Coordinator and Administration following calendar and event planning protocols.
- Catalogues new and donated books using automated library system
- Organizes the library collection
- Supports K-8 teachers with resources for students
- Teaches specials classes and elective courses as scheduled/assigned
- Keep accurate records of students’ progress and enter grades according to school policy
- Follow discipline procedures in accordance with district policies and as outlined in the Staff Handbook
- Manage a professional library of teacher resources
- Anticipate the literacy and material needs of Excel Academy staff
- Support students in the use of research materials, both print and electronic
- Maintain a working relationship with the local public library
- Assist students with computer-related tasks such as word processing, PowerPoint presentations, Publisher, and other software and applications
- Follow all policy and procedure established by the Excel Academy Board of Directors and Administration. In matters in which no specific Excel policy or procedure exists, follow that of Jeffco Public Schools.
- Assume an equal share of staff’s joint housekeeping responsibilities with attention to keeping the environment ordered, clean, supplied and in good repair
- Participate in recommended training programs, educational conferences and other courses pertinent to professional growth
**Experience:**
- A minimum of three years successful teaching experience is highly desired
- Experience teaching and supporting adult learners is highly desired
- Previous school librarian experience preferred
- Experience integrating technology into the classroom and student learning required
- Experience as a mentor teacher or instructional coach is a plus
**Education:**
A Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in Library Sciences or related field. Completion of a Teacher Preparation program preferred.
**Certificates, Licenses, & Registrations:**
Valid Colorado Teaching License with a School Librarian, Instructional Technology, or Teacher Librarian endorsement preferred and must complete the Jeffco DTL Induction within 2 years. If the successful candidate does not have a School Librarian or Teacher Librarian endorsement they will be required to begin the Jeffco DTL certification within 2 years.

Pay: $53,815.00 - $83,697.00 per year
