STEP (Structured Teaching Education Program) Paraprofessional
The job of Paraprofessional is done for the purpose/s of providing support to the instructional program within assigned classroom with specific responsibility for assisting in the supervision, care and instruction of special needs students in the regular classroom or in a self-contained classroom; assisting in implementing plans for instruction; monitoring student behavior during non-classroom time; providing information to appropriate school personnel; and attending IEP meetings.
This is a 10-month position, starting August 2024, for 6 hours a day, Monday - Friday.
Qualifications:
- Job related experience is desired
- Targeted, job-related education with study in a job-related area
- Bi-lingual Spanish speaking a plus
- Illinois Educator License with Stipulations (Para), Substitute Teaching License or Professional Educator License required
Compensation and Benefits:(2023-2024 school year) - subject to change
Minimum starting salary with a license - $25,448

ISBE offers a short-approval para professional license for those with a high school diploma (or equivalent), which is good for 3 years while completing the requirements for a full paraprofessional license.
