Meta Tech Industries is a Precision Machine Shop. We machine complex parts out of exotic materials that have tight tolerances for use throughout the oilfield, space, and defense industries.
Under minimal supervision, the Lead Inspector / CMM Programmer will inspect parts or pieces produced from outside or inside the company to insure conformance with Company and Customer drawings, standards and specifications.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Act as technical lead for the QC department.
- Audit active jobs in the shop to ensure quality procedures are being maintained
- Work with existing inspectors to ensure accurate inspection of parts is being performed with manual equipment and CMM (Zeiss) utilizing Calypso programming.
- Act as backup CMM Programmer/Operator
- Perform in process checks on active jobs using CMM and manual equipment
- Must have proficient knowledge using Micrometers, Calipers, Height Gages, Tri Mics, Plug Gages, etc.
- Effectively communicate with management and shop personnel to keep the production flowing, identify issues and resolve bottlenecks. Support continuous improvement efforts of the company.
- Creates inspection reports to document actual values against drawing notes. When needed, initiates reject tags, discrepancy reports, and inspection reports in accordance with Company procedures.
- Ensures procured articles and materials have been inspected and tested by the supplier in accordance with purchase requirements and are accompanied with required Certificates of Compliance and/or test data reports.
- Ensure that inspection is done using equipment that is verified to be calibrated.
- Maintains a positive company image with Customer representatives.
- Availability to work overtime as needed to meet production schedule.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
REQUIRED
- High School diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 8 years’ of quality control and dimensional inspection experience in a related industry.
- Advanced knowledge of CMM programming/operation. Experience using Zeiss Calypso CMM software prefferred.
- Inspection Experience using a Granite Table and Hand toolsAdvanced knowledge of GD&T and ASME Y14.5 (test will be given)
- Minimum 8 years’ experience in reading and interpreting blueprints, mechanical drawings and engineering drawing notations.
- Inspection Experience of complex machined parts with tight tolerances
- Knowledge of ISO9001, AS9100, quality standard requirements
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 60 per week
