PATH is seeking skilled professionals interested in helping others make a positive change in their lives to join our Human Resources team as the Benefits Specialist at our Madison Ave location in Los Angeles.
ABOUT PATH
Since its foundation in 1984, PATH (People Assisting the Homeless) has pioneered bold and effective approaches to assist people experiencing homelessness. PATH operates services throughout California, connecting our clients to a comprehensive continuum of homelessness prevention, street outreach, employment preparation and placement assistance, individualized case management, supportive services, interim housing, and permanent supportive housing.
ABOUT THE JOB
As part of the Human Resource Team, the Benefits Specialist serves as a subject matter expert for the Benefits functional area of HR and assists in the administration of all benefits in order to serve more than 1100 staff across three different nonprofit agencies. Position Responsibilities:
- Assist employees with complex issues and resolves with providers, when needed.
- Processes National Medical Support Notices.
- Assist with payroll premium deduction reconciliation.
- Reconciles monthly provider statements and invoices.
- Process manual enrollments, occasionally
- Assists with benefits premium collection for employees on Leave of Absence/Workers Comp.
- Conducts regular system and vendor audits to ensure data integrity. Works with TPA to resolve issues, when necessary.
- Assist with annual 403b audit, as needed.
- 403(b) Funding and reconciliation.
- Create and provide Benefits reports, as needed.
- Assist with company Wellness events.
- Assist with annual Open Enrollments.
- Provides assistance to other members of the team, as needed.
- Provides interpretations of policies & procedures to employees and managers.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with Inova, UKG, UKG Ready, Kronos, Kaiser, Guardian, Nationwide, IGOE, Empower
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Four (4) years of experience in Human Resources with at least two (2) years focused in Benefits.
MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS
Regardless of qualifications, candidates must:
- Have employment eligibility verification
- Have or be able and willing to obtain CPR/First Aid training
- Successfully complete the following as a condition of hire:
- Tuberculosis Test
- Background Screening
- Drug Test
DRIVING
Driving is an essential function of this position. To meet the employment requirements for this role, all candidates must:
- Have reliable transportation
- A valid driver’s license
- Proof of insurance and ownership for personal vehicles used during work duties
- The ability to qualify for PATH's insurance coverage
