Lionardo Art Studio is a creative and fun-filled place to work. Our philosophy and goal is to provide kids a place to be creative, experiment and explore all things art with offerings of art parties, classes, camps, and other events.
We are hiring a Birthday Party Host and Special Event Planner, someone who is creative to oversee our birthday parties and special events. We need someone who is energetic, friendly, strong communicator, good with time management, and have skills working both as a team and independently. Applicant should enjoy working with children and families as well as have a love of the arts.
Depending on applicants availability and interest, this position may also help with kid’s night out, special events, and art enrichment classes and workshops throughout the year.
POSITION DETAILS
Job Title: Birthday Party Host / Event Planner
Location: Lionardo Art Studio at 1212 Fulton St W. Also, mobile for on-location parties.
Schedule: Part-Time; Year-Round. Must be available on weekends.
Commitment: Looking to have someone who can commit to at least one year.
Work Environment: Work schedule is varied and may require evenings, weekends, and holidays. Saturdays are most common. Hours may vary from 0 hours to 15 hours per week.
Work requires a great deal of attention, energy, patience, and flexibility. Physical exertion includes frequent walking, bending and the ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds, pushing, pulling, and kneeling to lift children, equipment, and supplies. Job includes continuous contact with children as well dealing with parents/caregivers, crowds, uncooperative participants, and a variety of individuals.
At the studio, we encourage experimentation and exploration of art materials, which can include art that is messy. We teach art techniques but believe in creativity above all else, and thus, keep art open-ended and child-led. Supervision Required: Works under the direct supervision of the owner and will be trained to work independently as needed.
Salary: $16-$30. Starting wages $16 while in training or in assistant position, and $18-$25 per hour once confident independently. Please note, the rate of pay is by the party, not per hour, so may vary: larger parties have a higher pay than small parties. The pay averages $20 per hour, but varies. Plus tips. Willing to negotiate salary with time and experience.

DUTIES
General Statement: Duties involve and ever-changing variety of tasks around parties and special events, including preparation, setup, leading the events, cleanup. Job also includes promotion and communication to parents, children, and other individuals.
Birthday and Art Parties:
Duties are to follow our process to host a children's party including prep, setup, leading and teaching an art activity, cleaning up, and preparation for next party.
Art projects and activities are pre-planned from a guide, but may require adapting to a child’s interest or need.
Other:
- Setup and prepare for parties.
- Greet and welcome party guests with positivity and friendliness
- Conduct party art activities from our guide and the party guest’s choice
- Teach art activities in an engaging way, keeping children focused and engaged.
- Be flexible and adaptable to keep the art activity in the allotted time
- Assist guests in serving food, party favors and various other tasks.
- Promote other art programs, know items up upsale, and handle additional party bookings.
- Handle payments.
- Ensure the safety of all attendees/children and cleanliness of the facility
- Clean up after parties.
Special Events:
- Help planning and executing special events to promote Lionardo Art Studio in the community, such as back-to-school events or end of the year student art show.
- Willingness to bring in new business and represent and promote the art studio
- Establish and maintain relationships with the community and local businesses and key community influencers
- Be there during events, greet families, and help to run needed tasks
Other
- Any other tanks assigned, may include helping out with classes, workshops, open-studio, promotions, or other.

REQUIRED SKILLS
- Considerable knowledge of art, including painting, drawing, sculpture, building, crafts, and more.
- Social Media proficient to assist with social media updates and promotions.
- Would be great if you had knowledge of computer skills in canva, Photoshop, Word, or other relevant software
- Must be able to personally lift up to 20 pounds, be able to stand and bend for considerable time.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Must Have Reliable Transportation and be willing to drive in all weather conditions including snow or rain. Larger vehicle wonderful, but not necessary. (Uber, Lyft, and public transportation is not an option as you will be transporting art supplies for mobile parties).
- Previous experience working with children.
- Legal documentation establishing your identity and eligibility to be legally employed
- Clear criminal and background check
- Due to the nature of the business, once you are on the schedule for an event, perfect attendance is mandatory!
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 21 years of age or older; AND
- High school graduation or equivalency; AND
- Previous volunteer or work experience providing care for children, such as a summer camp, youth enrichment program, school, daycare, recreation, or other professional setting; AND
- Knowledge of art techniques in variety of mediums from art school or equivalent, college, or self-taught; OR
- Any satisfactory combination of experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and ability to perform the above-described duties.
Certifications:
First Aid/CPR certification preferred.
