Collection Specialist
Reports to: Associate General Counsel
Position Summary
Initiate and manage legal processes with tenants who fail to comply with the terms and conditions of leases and other legal agreements.
Responsibilities
- Reviewing arrears reports for all properties in the portfolio and identifying underperforming assets
- Developing collection strategies to optimize collections
- Coordinate with the legal team on the commencement of the collection process
- Communicate with outside attorneys on the collection of arrears for current and former tenants
- Coordinate with property managers on the collection of outstanding arrears
- Contact residents regarding outstanding balances
- Resolve billing issues with residents and coordinate with the accounting department to correct billing errors
- Draft and monitor payment plan agreements
- Act as a company representative in upholding quality customer service and a positive company image by resolving customer account inquiries
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- General knowledge and understanding of the law, legal terms, and Landlord-Tenant Law
- Bilingual (Spanish/English)
- Ability to multi-task
- Knowledge of the Yardi system is very important
- Ability to engage in telephone communications in a professional manner
- Ability to use and understand Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Ability to write and communicate effectively
Required Education and Experience
Bachelors’ Degree or a combination of education and /or experience Legal or paralegal background preferred.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
