Position Summary
The Program Specialist will offer comprehensive services and link Clayton County citizens to resources that allow them to remain safely in their homes. The Program Specialist will assess and interview applicants who request assistance to determine eligibility for applicable programs and services, process applications while maintaining efficient record-keeping, and engage in community outreach/marketing strategies that increase the visibility of the agency and its programs. This grant-funded role will emphasize working with Rehabilitation Contractors and Housing Inspectors to assist qualified homeowners with needed repairs and rehabilitation services. The ideal candidate will use a client-centered approach while maintaining strong case management and administrative skills. Additionally, the Program Specialist will serve as an advocate, providing referrals to partner resources within the community for all citizens in need.
Reporting to the Program Manager, the Program Specialist is organized, proactive, willing to learn, and takes the initiative in problem-solving to assist in addressing challenges.
Responsibilities
- Conduct interviews, investigations, and review intake forms for completion.
- Advise on program status and eligibility.
- Maintain documents and records.
- Act as a liaison between homeowners, housing inspectors, and rehabilitation contractors, advising on time-sensitive issues and ensuring proper follow-up.
- Maintain effective communication and cultivate strong working relationships with all agency clients, partner agencies, and stakeholders.
- Maintain data for tracking and reporting purposes.
- Contribute to the team by actively participating in team meetings and other special projects.
- Assist the Social Media Strategist, Program Manager, and Executive Director with community engagement activities to increase visibility and share insights on program status, housing-related news, special projects, and other community or global interests.
- Participate in weekly work plan reviews.
- Identify and assist Clayton County citizens with community resources.
- Perform all other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in social service, business, public administration, urban studies, or related field.
- One year of experience in case management, project management, or direct service desired. (Consideration of more experience in lieu of degree)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and proprietary software, as well as database operations and other technology applications used to support organizational objectives.
- Able to work in an office on a dedicated schedule.
- Ability to establish and promote effective working relationships with team members, Clayton County Citizens (including program clients), and representatives from social service agencies and community groups.

Additional Information
- This role is grant-funded, and its continuation is determined annually.
- The role includes a competitive salary, full benefits for the employee, and a 401K.
- Standard hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm, with some approved flexibility and weekends.
