Village Hospitality Group is searching for a talented Chef to join the team at one of our upscale concepts in the heart of Powhatan.
People Management:
- Instruct cooks or other workers in the preparation, cooking, and garnishing of food and beverage.
- Supervise or coordinate activities of cooks or workers engaged in food preparation.
- Demonstrate new cooking techniques or equipment to staff.
- Create and maintain Schedule in accordance to budgeted labor cost
- Investigate and document any and all incidents, accidents, and disciplinary actions; Consult with General Manager on corrective actions
Process Management:
- Determine the schedule of production necessary to ensure timely preparation and delivery of food services to numerous outlets.
- Monitor sanitation practices to ensure that employees follow standards and regulations.
- Check the quality of ingredients and prepared food and beverage products to ensure that standards are met.
- Assist in food costing and specification of recipes and procedures
- Manage multiple sets of data, including order worksheets, prep worksheets, and allocation worksheets
- Participate in inventory management of food, beverage, and supplies
- Inspect supplies, equipment, or work areas to ensure performance to established standards.
- Elevate needs and make suggestions regarding equipment repairs and purchases
- Minimize potential hazards in the kitchen to comply with all internal and external safety standards.
- Code Vendor and Supplier invoices for accounting purposes
- Create invoices for transfer of products and packaged goods to numerous outlets
- Working professional knowledge of Microsoft Office and Database Management Systems:
o Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
o Point of Sale System
o Human Capital Management / Payroll System
Product Management:
- Order or requisition food or other supplies needed to ensure efficient operation.
- Ensure the quantity and quality of received products and supplies by invoice, elevate as needed.
- Determine how food should be presented and choose packaging.
- Plan, direct, or supervise food preparation or cooking activities of multiple kitchens.
- Prepare and cook foods of all types, either on a regular basis or for special guests or functions.
