Recreational Leader – Banneker Summer Camp
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Summer job opportunity working with at-risk youth in Bloomington. Provide on-site supervision and lead a group of summer campers through activities at the Banneker Community Center for the Summer Program. Implement daily activities--educational, sports, cultural, fitness, health and wellness and social programs. Work closely with Banneker Program Coordinator and Camp Specialist, community groups and volunteers to provide quality activities for youth ages 5-13. This camp offers staff creativity in implementing enjoyable activities for youth with the opportunity to make an impact on the lives of participants.
EDUCATION:
High School and some collegiate education or equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
TRAINING/SPECIAL SKILLS:
Ability to interact effectively with children and adults. Must be mature and have good judgment. Must display integrity, and take pride in preserving the safety and wellbeing of participants at all times. Ability to empathize and understand the lives of at-risk youth and display passion and enthusiasm for inspiring participants to dream big. Must have strong planning skills and the ability to implement a variety of recreational activities. Ability to work independently, supervise participants, and take direction from the Site Supervisor. Must be self-motivated and disciplined to carry out protocols and policies and work as a member of a large team.
EXPERIENCE:
Demonstrated ability to supervise, motivate and work well with children and peers. Prior work history or knowledge, working with adolescents.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:
Valid Indiana License, CPR and First Aid or ability to obtain.
HOURS:
Camp Hours: Monday-Friday 8:30-5:30 Dates: May 28, 2024-July 26, 2024
Staff will work 5 days per week, morning or afternoon shifts available. Approximately 28-30 hours per week.
SALARY:
$15.85 per hour
