Reports To: Practice Administrator/Physician
Department: Clinical
Summary: This job includes any responsibility in the day to day functions of a medical back office. There is direct interaction with patients both by phone and in person, as well as during the clinic. Experience with insurance authorizations, orthopaedic workflows, and phlebotomy highly preferred; medical office experience is REQUIRED.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Scribe
- Application and removal of casts, splints and braces
- Experience in Phlebotomy
- Preparing and administering injections
- Experience with electronic medical records
- Obtaining vitals
- Cleaning and preparing treatment rooms
- Cleaning and sterilization of surgical instruments
- Prescribing medications through eprescribe
- Obtaining Prior Authorizations for procedures and diagnostics
- Completing required patient forms and/or paperwork
- Scanning and linking correspondence
- Customer service
- Answering phones

Education/Experience:
One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Ability:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Math Ability:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software and Database software.
