ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Handle and be responsible for a caseload of Affirmative Asylum and EOIR Removal Proceeding cases including but not limited to defensive asylum cases, appeals, motions to reopen and reconsider and cancellation of removal.
- Develops and implements preliminary case strategy after assessing clients background and applying appropriate immigration law and procedure
- Responsible for identifying and assessing eligibility for non-asylum relief including USCIS applications.
- Responsible for reviewing and approving any and all petitions, motions and other filings prior to submission with court or other immigration agencies
- Responsible for drafting and filing case briefs and motions including but not limited to protected grounds & nexus statements, BIA and 9th circuit briefs, motions to reopen, motions to reconsider, 1 year deadline briefs and eligibility briefs
- Responsible for reviewing criminal history chart, client’s criminal background and drafting attorney declarations needed for motions to vacate
- Prepare for and conduct Master Hearings, Individual Hearings and other contested hearings in-person and through webex
- Responsible for ensuring all case deadlines are met and cases are resolved in a timely manner
- Responsible for meeting with clients and preparing them for court hearings including trial preparation.
- Responsible for leading a support team of paralegals and legal assistants, being the attorney responsible for answering legal questions, providing guidance and instructions and cases to ensure they are resolving in a timely manner
- Expected to provide exceptional client service and ensure satisfaction of the client throughout the duration of the case.
Requirements:
- Must have an active bar license in any US jurisdiction
- 2+ years of experience practicing EOIR immigration law
- Experience with detained cases is preferred but not required
- Bi-lingual Spanish speaker preferred but not required
- Experienced navigating and utilizing the EOIR court’s ECAS, Webex and other immigration softwares
- Experience and comfortable handling a fully electronic caseload
- Demonstrates attention to detail, time management, initiative, problem solving and organization skills
LOCATION: This is a full time remote position however, attorneys will be expected to conduct in-person meetings, if necessary and appearances when required by the court in Los Angeles, Orange county and other surrounding areas.

Pay: $100,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
