Job Description
A Fulfillment Associate is responsible for receiving products from our local producers and getting those items checked for quality, weighed, repacked, and on the trucks for delivery to our O‘ahu customers. The work is physical, fast-paced, and requires a high attention to detail. In addition to the fulfillment work at our warehouse, this person will also be responsible for delivering orders and picking up shipments from our neighbor island suppliers. Successful associates will ensure timely delivery of local produce to predetermined customers on specific routes, review orders prior to delivery, load and unload trucks, spot any product quality issues, and provide exceptional service to our customers.
We will provide training to the right person who can demonstrate motivation and a willingness to learn. The Fulfillment Associate reports directly to the Operations Manager, and to the Director of Operations when the Manager is off-duty.
About the Job
Fulfillment Associate Responsibilities:
● With direction from the Receiving, Quality, and Repack Leads, inspect local products upon arrival to our warehouse, ensure deliveries contain the expected items, weights, and quality
● Organize items in the correct warehouse location
● Efficiently repack bulk local product into retail-size bags
● Accurately pick items and carefully pack them into a customer’s bag/box ensuring delicate produce items will not be damaged
● Load boxes in the correct order onto our delivery vehicles
● Follow sanitation protocols and proactively sanitize surfaces
● Follow food safety protocols and practices
● Maintain clear and proactive communication with Fulfillment Lead and Director of Operations
● Other duties as assigned, including but not limited to warehouse maintenance and bin sanitation
Driver Responsibilities:
● Load, transport, and deliver items to our customers in a safe, timely manner
● Review orders before and after delivery to ensure that orders are complete, EBT payments are completed accurately, and the customer is satisfied
● Assist with loading and unloading items from vehicles
● Provide excellent customer service, answer questions, and handle complaints from customers with support of our Customer Advocate team
● Adhere to assigned routes and set departure times
● Abide by all transportation laws and maintain a safe driving record
● Complete pre-departure and post-delivery documentation forms
About You
● High school diploma or equivalent
● Comfortable working in cold environments (we will provide outerwear to keep you insulated)
● Valid driver's license and clean driving record
● Adhere to assigned routes, schedules, safety procedures, and transportation laws.
● Strong time management and customer service skills
● Able to walk, drive, lift and carry heavy items (up to 40 lbs) for extended periods
● Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
● Excellent communication skills
● Able to work both independently and in a team environment
● Passionate about building a more sustainable and equitable food system for Hawaiʻi
Preferred Qualifications:
● Experience handling and inspecting produce, meats, and other food products
● Comfortable driving a non-CDL 16-foot box truck
● CDL license is a plus
Proposed Schedule
This is a full-time position with a schedule that shifts as needed to support the business. Scheduled hours will fall within your availability, as communicated prior to starting the job (and which can be adjusted based on external circumstances).
Schedules are published two weeks in advance. We schedule all of our part-time team members between 36 and 40 hours each week, which include a 30-minute unpaid lunch break. Work will include weekend shifts. . You will be responsible for maintaining your timesheet through Deputy, our scheduling application. Due to the operational nature of the role, the vast majority of the work will be conducted in person at Farm Link’s office and warehouse location in Kalihi. We can not accommodate remote work for this position.
Compensation and Benefits
Farm Link Hawaiʻi offers a competitive compensation package based on the organization’s compensation philosophy. Pay for this position ranges from $19.00 - $23.00 per hour, depending on prior experience. Medical and dental insurance are provided at no cost. Paid time off is provided after passing the 90 day probationary period. Employees also have access to purchase discounted local products through our marketplace.
