Welder / Fabricator
A Welder/Fabricator is responsible for the application of a wide range of Welding and Fabricating applications. Ensures materials are welded correctly by studying blueprints, visualizing, and planning sequence of welding. Performs selected method and procedure of welding. The core tasks, duties, and responsibilities that commonly make up the job description of Welder / Fabricators:
- Prepares materials to be welded by performing the duties such as: grouping together materials, checking sizes to print, aligning material per part print, tacking together weldment, and verifying tolerance and welding project or weldment.
- Produces quality weldment by accurately welding project. Production welding by verifying materials, welds and inspects finished weldment to ensure quality.
- Finished weldment by grinding, or chipping rough or sharp edges, weld splatter, surplus weld or scale.
- Maintains safe workplace by cleaning work area, machines, tools, and equipment.
- Inspects the finished weldment to ensure that all welds conform to print specifications.
- Accurately records work-related data to include proper time reporting, in addition to other required/requested data and information.
Major Responsibilities:
· Education: Welders / Fabricators are required to have high school diploma or GED. Welding certification preferred, but not required.
· Time management: They must be on time for scheduled work shifts, re-prioritize work/tasks in progress, and complete assigned tasks in an safe and efficient manner.
· Flexibility: Welder / Fabricators may be required to work weekends and overtime.
Physical Demands
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit/stand, walk, climb, kneel, crawl, use hands or fingers, talk, hear, see with close vision.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to fifty pounds or more.
