Who Are We:
The New Orleans JCC is a state-of-the-art fitness center and pool, a leader in New Orleans early childhood education, a fun-filled summer day camp, and so much more. It is a place for adults to take an exercise class, an art class, or a dance class. A place for children and teens to experience learning through enrichment classes, sports leagues, family activities, and summer camps. The JCC is built on Jewish values but is welcome to everyone.
The mission of the New Orleans Jewish Community Center is to promote and ensure the well-being of our Jewish community and to instill an understanding of Judaism and its heritage by providing a center where all can enjoy, learn, experience, and share in quality activities in a Jewish environment.
The Lead Teacher will keep an eye on kids' activities both inside and outside. Be kind and considerate when attending to kids' needs. Take part in small group activities. Create and preserve a child-centered classroom's neat layout and appearance. Supervise and help with regular classroom cleaning. Collaborate and support other teachers. Adhere to all rules and procedures of the school.
What You'll Do:

Planning, supervising, and implementing a stimulating program as a leader in a team effort with an Assistant Educator in accordance with the policies and philosophy of the Early Childhood Department and the JCC.

Gearing the program to the individual needs of each child with special concern for their interests,
talents, learning styles, and family dynamics. -
Helping each child become aware of their role as an integral member of the group and treating them with dignity and respect.

Taking responsibility for the ordered arrangement and appearance of a child-centered classroom. Assist in general housekeeping of the classroom.

Communicating daily with families about the children’s experiences, growth and developmental
milestones. -
Observing and recording children's behavior during routines and transitions.

Completing a formal assessment tool for each child and leading biannual parent/teacher conferences.

Attending all staff meetings and other recommended JCC functions.

Participate in and document at least 12 clock hours of continuing education a year. Plus 3 additional hours on health and safety issues.

Attending meetings and conferences of professional organizations as a representative of the Early
Childhood Department. Participation in professional organizations is highly recommended. -
Report to the Early Childhood Director or Early Childhood Assistant Director.

What You'll Bring:

Undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education or related field; or a CDA.

Minimum of three years teaching Pre-K children under age five; preferred.

Have strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Be team-oriented, energetic, creative, and nurturing.

Must be a sensitive and mature individual who is able to relate well to both children and adults. It is essential that he/she has the personality and ability to provide warmth, leadership, and stability for program continuity.

Lead by example; follow all NOJCC policies and procedures as defined in the NOJCC Handbook and as directed by Agency leadership.

Basic awareness of Judaism and Jewish cultural norms and traditions.
Certification Requirements:

Maintain current certification in First Aid and Infant/Child CPR
