Star-C is a collaborative, nonprofit 501(c)(3) providing affordable apartment community residents with wrap-around educational, wellness and gardening programs. The mission of Star-C programs is to reduce resident transiency in affordable housing communities and nearby schools, provide academic support for children and ultimately improve the quality of life for the individual and the neighborhood. Position
The Assistant Resident Services & After School Manager will report to and collaborate closely with the Resident Services & After School Director and Resident Services Site Coordinator in support of Star-C’s mission.
Primary Responsibilities
After School
Assists the Resident Services and After School Director with all program operations and planning including but not limited to:
Designing and implementing After School and Summer camp programs along with other community programs within the Star-C model including, but not limited to, wellness/health, food security, financial literacy, etc.
Promoting Star-C visibility in the in the community by meeting with parents, church groups, community groups, property management and school representatives to discuss the programs and their benefits
Supporting and increasing collaboration with Star-C corporate and community partners
Maintaining program records, gathering data, and conducting observations
Conducting program orientation and contact with families, the school community and apartment ownership
Volunteer coordination
Assisting children with literacy and math skills, developing interpersonal skills, and improving their overall academic performance including, but not limited to, completing assigned homework, and preparing for end of grade testing
Ensure the safety and supervision of children at all times
Resident Services Support
Responsible for assisting with program planning
Ensures assigned Star-C properties execute all programming efficiently.
Work with the apartment management and families
Provide program orientation, encourage involvement, and maintain monthly contact with families, the school community and apartment ownership.
Promote program visibility in the community by meeting with parents, interfaith groups, community groups, property management, school representatives and other nonprofits to discuss the programs and their benefits
Participate in all meetings, workshops, and activities organized by St
ar-C
Assist with collecting program assessments and metrics
General Responsibilities
Follow and enforce all procedures as stated in the Star-C Operations Manual
Ensure that program site is cleaned, with all materials and equipment securely put away every day at closing time
Take direction from Site Director and Resident Services Programs staff where applicable
Qualifications
- Passion for Star-C’s mission and ability to articulate its philosophy, values, and practices to internal and external stakeholders.
- Must love to work with children.
- Ability to use online resources to support instruction; strong instructional technology skills, including Microsoft office software and web-based resources; ability to determine scope of work necessary to complete self-directed projects.
- understanding of teaching and learning with a strong ability to manage and run a learning environment.
- ability to command respect and cooperation with elementary students, adult volunteers, colleagues, school personnel, property management, and community partner representatives.
- ability to project and generate positive attitudes.
- ability to communicate clearly in formal and informal settings.
