Lab Tech II - Northlake, IL
Day Shift
Working under the supervision of the project or technical lead, the lab technician executes experimental work for the Functional Materials Applications team. The main tasks of the position involve: wet sample preparation and proofing using a variety of methods; wet chemistry and product performance evaluation using a variety of standard test methods. The lab technician should be self-motivated and able to work smoothly as a member of a flexible, fast-paced team. Basic computer skills, ability to communicate progress and results in a concise manner, and good organization skills are required. The technician is expected to follow lab safety and standard ISO operating procedures, and will be in charge of certain lab equipment maintenance and basic lab supplies.
Responsibilities:
- Accurately and quickly perform routine lab tasks, physical or chemical testing of finished goods, materials in process, or raw materials. Interprets these results with minimal supervision.
- Assists in developing new test methods, running non-routine and new tests.
- Develops special customer tests and assesses new equipment by running trials.
- Performs routine calculations as required by testing procedures.
- Documents and prepares final reports.
- Operates and performs minor maintenance on lab equipment used in testing procedures.
- Provides direct technical support to customers and internal employees.
Education & Experience:
- HS Diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years hands on laboratory testing or related technical experience
- Excellent organizational, time management, and attention to detail skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Basic Understanding of color computer operation
- Flexible and able to work in waterbase, solvent, and energy curable labs
Plus:
- AS in Science field
- Exposure to wet chemistry,
