Reports to the Executive VP, Operations (off site)
The design and/or testing of tooling and equipment and/or planning the manufacturing processes in the manufacturing plant. Work is of a technical nature where decisions are made within limits of general practices and procedures, but where supervision is available to handle unusual situations. Occasionally may assign work to a small group of selected employees, working in tandem with the Production and Maintenance Managers.
Also, will be responsible for the development and installation of tools, equipment and/or gauges and the development of manufacturing processes in the manufacturing plant. Work is of a technical nature and a high level of judgment is used.
- Establishes a course of action to accomplish completion of a job and/or project
- Analyses product designs for best method of manufacture (DFM), working closely with the Product Design Engineers and Engineering Manager
- Proposes and evaluates the processes for equipment in the plant, under the supervision of the Group Executive VP, Ops.
- Directs the design, development, and/or improvement of manufacturing processes for the plant
- Provides technical support for specific plant operations
- Coordinates input from internal/external customers to better understand customer needs and/or perceptions
- Keeps abreast of current production technological developments and trends in areas of expertise
- Actively identifies new areas for learning and takes advantage of learning opportunities
- Directs the design, development and/or improvement of manufacturing process for plant
- Supports the purchase and installation of new capital equipment associated with the manufacturing plant
- Directs the development and/or improvements of manufacturing processes and equipment for the plant, along with time and motion studies
- Evaluates expenditures for processes and/or equipment
- Provides technical assistance and training for plant operations
- Ensure lessons learned are analyzed and documented
- Coordinate activities with other departments and our customers
- Ensure that manufacturing has accurate and detailed information on specifications to produce the part
- Establishes a course of action to accomplish completion of the job and/or project
- Provides technical support for specific plant operations, maintenance, and infrastructure
Bachelor Degree in a related technical discipline (Mechatronics, Aerospace, Mechanical engineering/Electrical engineering), pus 3-5 years’ experience in a working manufacturing plant.
Alternatively, a proven track record in general plant engineering and maintenance/facilities management, with 15 plus years recent activity in the role, along with trade qualifications/journeyman apprenticeship, or community college diploma will be considered.
