The Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Molecular Genetics (MIMG) is ranked among the top 10 microbiology departments in the country. Qualifications

One year One year of laboratory experience (Required)
- Skill in standard sterile techniques used in tissue cultures and bacterial cultures. (Required)
- Comfort in BSL2+ facility and working with BSL2+ agents. (Preferred)
- Skill in basic molecular and cell biology procedures. (Required)
- Skill in preparing and handling of viral stocks. (Preferred)
- Skill in preparing acrylamide and agarose electrophoresis gels operated on gel electrophoresis apparatus and power supplies. (Preferred)
- Preparation of various stock solutions and sterilization of solutions by steam autoclave or by disposable filter units. Skill in performing chemical and mathematical calculations (ex calculate concentrations of solutions). (Required)
- Excellent interpersonal skills to establish and maintain cooperative working conditions and relationships with other staff and students. (Required)
- Communication skill (written, oral) to maintain lab protocols, notebooks, and to prepare and make research presentation in lab meetings. (Required)
- Organizational skill in prioritizing assignments to complete work in a timely manner with deadlines, fluctuating workloads, or last minute changes. Skill in following through on assignments. (Required)
- Skill in use of standard computer software, such as Excel and Word. (Required)
- Familiar with use of DNA analysis software. (Preferred)
- Knowledge of University guidelines related to biological safety. (Preferred)
